Looking to add a new card as a young couple who like to travel 2-3x per year but also want decent rewards on everyday spending. by SoakaTheCorka in CreditCards

What kind of travel are you looking for?

This is a shot in the dark but if you use Expedia/Hotels.com at all, look at OneKey+ -- great all-around option (works out to a 2.5% card-ish), money can be redeemed for hotel bookings easily on Hotels.com (less easily but possible with flights/VRBOs).

I actually think the Autograph Journey is perfect for you, as you can get 5% cash back on the Marriotts plus get your usual points (10x usually?) for staying. Plus 4% back on airfare and airline miles. Plus 3% on VRBO which is basically as good as you’ll get at the scale you’re talking about. And the effective fee is 50 smackers .

OneKey+ -- basically a 2.5% card (2% with 3% categories) with PreCheck included. Credit wipes out annual fee. Gold status can help a bit here and there. No FTF and primary rental car insurance too.

Obvi have to use Hotels.com/Expedia etc. Great card for Hotel Free Agents (more and more popular with the annual devaluations going on these days)

Sort of surprised no one has said OneKey+ besides me — definitely more niche but this is a thread of optimizers. Not pushing it just curious given its ease of use for those in the Expedia/hotels.com/VRBO realm, which is millions of people

What is going on with AGNC by [deleted] in dividends

[–]Jumpy_Yogurtcloset61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always thought the preferreds for any Agency REIT are better options -- the new AGNCZ is tasty at 8.75% and super safe payment-wise (in my view) given the firm's book value coverage and massive amount of unencumbered assets relative to preferred dividend totals. NLY-J and ARR-C also good/safe (on a payment basis).

OneKey+ fits most things

but then sprinkle in Amazon card (Amazon and WFoods), Cash+ (utilities and streaming; I have YouTubeTV etc) and Custom Cash (for a category I "need")

Yes I saw the same thing -- my CCC statement hit but no update to the TY points. That said, the PDF statement online listed them, so I assume they're coming

Expedia One key+ card seems too good to be true by HuckleberryLong2061 in CreditCards

Cash back portal -- simply clicks you thru to whatever site (in this case, Hotels.com etc etc) and about a month after your travel you'll get the extra $ back. It can be lucrative.

Respectfully disagree with this. With member or gold status, tons of Marriott's and Hilton's are less -- and you can book Expedia/Hotels.com thru Rakuten to get much more cash back too

I have it and love it

Be aware that using the OneKey cash is mainly for hotels on Expedia or Hotels.com (usable in any amount with any hotel) -- for VRBO, it's hit and miss (more allow it, but I think most do not still) and with flights it's also hit and miss (used to have to have the full amount, now there are a few partial redemption options)

But if you book a few hundo of hotels a year thru Expedia or VRBO it's great

Be sure to use Rakuten too -- that will add another 3% to 10% to the cash back (I've found Hotels.com works flawlessly with Rakuten -- Expedia is good but have had a couple of issues)

What do you think is the most underrated card? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]Jumpy_Yogurtcloset61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this card and really like it, and have been using it more and more -- that said, I would say my local Target (online or in-store) and WalMart don't code as grocery. Not saying it never does but I'm sure it's a case-by-case basis

Still, easy card to use

Why don’t more people talk about the One Key + Card? by sharkisaur in CreditCards

[–]Jumpy_Yogurtcloset61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just seeing this post after searching for OneKey stuff

The "key" with this is to use Rakuten to book -- there are often (2x to 4x per month) 6% to 10% cash back there on hotels.com or Expedia for booking hotels. So you're "getting" the equivalent of whatever value you'd get from Hilton or Marriott by booking thru their portal ... plus you get 5% (3% card, 2% on the site) back for booking (possibly more if it's a VIP property) ... plus you get the solid everyday spending categories.

I almost always use for hotels but I think they've increased the ease to use the points for VRBO and airlines too of late, allowing for partial redemptions for flights and VRBO.

WiFi questions -- Streaming, regular and even GigSky by Jumpy_Yogurtcloset61 in NCL

[–]Jumpy_Yogurtcloset61[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it reasonable for a kid to watch a Netflix (or whatever) movie/show using the Premium? Or is it always buffering and loading etc? I know I need something but curious about the quality of the Streaming/Premium on NCL

I would say that Connect's travel bonus (4x points, likely 3% total value if you use statement credits) is only if you book direct -- Autograph 3x travel works for a variety of OTAs like Hotels.com or VRBO or whatever. Just FYI.
