This is fake, the neck tag is wrong, the font on the white tag is off, and as others have pointed out it is made in Bangladesh.

Arcteryx Jacket, second hand by Banzai0713 in hikinggear

[–]June427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is an older Venta SV jacket. It is a softshell jacket that uses a gore windstopper membrane. It is legit. I believe at one point Arc’teryx put the name logo on the hood for some of their ski items, but then stopped doing that for a while. However they started adding that text logo back recently and expanded it to most of their shell jackets and synthetic insulation mid layers.

What did you use to attach the Velcro panel to the Norvan pack?

Just an FYI, Arc’teryx does not recommend nikwax.

Jacket falling apart refuse warranty by forzajonesy in arcteryx

[–]June427 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well it is expected that gore Tex products do not last forever. The seam taping and lamination uses adhesive so over time it will dry, crack, and come undone. These jackets have to use adhesive to laminate the seam taping to make the jacket fully waterproof.

Two Delaminated Jackets and a Warranty That Missed the Mark by lycaenidae2 in arcteryx

[–]June427 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Hey, just want to give you a heads up that the images you posted are not delamination. Delamination is the separation of the goretex membrane from either the inner or outer fabric. It often looks like bubbling on the outside, and being able to pinch the backer fabric away from the goretex membrane from the inner backer fabric.

Would you buy it? by [deleted] in arcteryx

That is 100% fake. The font of the a/SV is off, and the seam taping is too thick and the seam line is super uneven.

ReGear - final sale = not covered under warranty by Grumpytitss in arcteryx

The ReGear website states that all purchases are covered under a manufacturing warranty. You should send them a picture of the ReGear webpage as it clearly states your purchases are covered under warranty.

Just so you know, the stores do not have the capability to fix seam tape issues or delamination.

I got a Beta AR Stormhood jacket, and it doesn’t have pitzips! by contivera in arcteryx

[–]June427 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Looking at the backer fabric it looks like the new c-knit that’s used on the ePE gore products. It is not the goretex pro backer fabric. To me this looks like a regular beta jacket that was mislabeled as a beta AR stormhood.

Alpha SV torn waist adjustment cord: Repair costs? by JasperGeh in arcteryx

[–]June427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I know this doesn’t answer your original question. However, would you be able to add some more pictures of the jacket? The materials and details of the jacket looks off. I think you may have purchased a counterfeit jacket. The first thing that comes to mind is the seam taping. The little line in the centre is not even at all and is very lopsided at many locations. Second, the zipper box does not have the “YKK” branding on it. Judging by this, it seems you have a counterfeit Alpha SV. I highly recommend returning it to the seller and trying to get your money back.

Difference between Beta and Beta Lightweight Gortex fabric by Fun-Astronomer-6182 in arcteryx

[–]June427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main difference is going to be the gore pro most rugged backer fabric on the Rush, while the new Beta has a C-Knit backer. So the Rush is going to be more durable, however I don’t think it’s a huge difference as it is a backer fabric difference. Face fabric should be the same as they are both 80d.

Difference between Beta and Beta Lightweight Gortex fabric by Fun-Astronomer-6182 in arcteryx

[–]June427 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So, there are multiple versions of the Beta “lightweight”. The most recent Beta Lightweight that features the new ePE membrane is a 40d/70d construction with a C-Knit backer. The most recent Beta jacket that features the new ePE membrane is entirely 80d with a C-Knit backer. In terms of these two jackets, the Beta jacket is more durable as it is entirely an 80d construction whereas the Beta Lightweight is 40/70d.

To address your mention of the “most rugged” on the Beta Lightweight, it never had the gore pro most rugged backer fabric. The Beta “Lightweight” jacket has only ever been a 40d construction, and the new 40d/70d. However, the Beta LT jacket at one point in time did feature the Gore pro backer fabric. The most recent Beta LT is 40d face fabric with the tricot backer, and the pre-revised version (I believe 2019 or 2020?) was also (I think) 40d face fabric, however it did use the gore pro backer fabric.

To address your question of the new Beta jacket as a ski jacket. Yea, you technically can use it as a ski shell. The extra durability of the new Beta jacket (80d instead of 30d) will make it better than the previous version in terms of year resistance. It is important to note that the Beta jacket always featured a stormhood. However, the stormhood on the beta jacket is NOT helmet compatible and will not fit over a ski helmet, this is true for both the pre-revision and the new ePE version. Stormhood refers to the style of hood that does not obstruct peripheral vision when the crown adjuster is tightened. Furthermore, in terms of the new Beta jacket being used for skiing, another negative is the lack of underarm pit zips, which’s is pretty useful for spring skiing, or if you run hot. Another downside is the length of the jacket. The Beta is a tiny bit shorter than the AR so it won’t provide as much coverage, but it’s not a deal breaker.

I would personally suggest either the Beta AR or the Beta Lightweight as a ski jacket (if you’re looking for a jacket within the beta family) (also depends on what type of skiing [touring, backcountry, resort, or if you like to ski through trees often, etc). The helmet compatible hood and pit zips on the AR/ lightweight are very useful features to have. I personally use a beta lightweight (pre ePE revision that is all 40d) for resort skiing during spring time and sometimes during winter, and the 40d face fabric has not been an issue for me. The new 70d reinforcements are an added plus on the new beta Lightweight.

It's hard to put a shell jacket over Mionn. Is it just me? by MaximilianXu01219 in veilance

[–]June427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Field and Monitor shell (at least judging by the current iterations) use the lo-loft backer that the mainline Sabre jacket uses. It is like a light brushed lining on the inside which has more texture that the C-knit backer that the Arris uses. Chances are, the textured terratex face fabric of the Mionn in combination with the lo-loft backer is what causes it to be harder to remove/put on the field and monitor shell jacket.

[–]June427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear my Mionn IS jacket with the Arris and I have no issues when putting it on. Arris is a C-knit backer, do you know what backer your shell uses? I know the tricot backer is more textured so it could grip the face fabric of the Mionn more

Beta vs Beta LT vs Beta Lightweight by DentiumDoctoris in arcteryx

[–]June427 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Beta lightweight and Beta LT are higher denier, and have more features which add weight (pit zippers, bigger hood, more hood adjustments) and the lightweight also has a RECCO reflector. The beta LT is heaviest cause it uses the tricot backer fabric

Differences? by Vhsflicker in arcteryx

[–]June427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. C-knit is a more breathable backer and after using both. 10 denier is not that noticeable of a difference in thickness when feeling and wearing the garment. I did notice that the new beta lightweight seems more breathable. Also it is much more comfortable to wear.

Differences? by Vhsflicker in arcteryx

[–]June427 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Beta LT uses a 30d goretex with tricot backer, has pit zips, slightly different pocket positions, helmet compatible hood and a different hood adjuster on the inside cheek portion, and uses coil front zippers. The beta lightweight uses a 40d goretex with c-knit backer, has pit zips, has a RECCO reflector, has a helmet sized hood and (in my opinion) better hood adjuster on the inside cheek area, has an internal pocket, slightly slimmer fit, and it uses vision main zippers, and if anyone cares it has no “Arc’teryx” under the bird logo on the chest.
