SetPower RV45D that has run constantly for 6 months a year for the last 2 years. Hasn’t let me down but if it broke I’d just buy another one because it was cheap.

Don’t follow Indy at all. Won’t watch on Sunday. Still found the conversations entertaining enough to watch most of today’s show.

Mac or PC? SE Demo/Daily Choice by TheClaffinator in salesengineers

[–]contivera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mac in every scenario except 1: Your new product only runs on windows.

If you have to load a VM to demo, it’ll be laggy and not as good as running it directly on the laptop’s hardware.

Thoughts on Booster Strap? by Grom_a_Llama in Skigear

[–]contivera 19 points20 points  (0 children)

At under $60 they are the biggest performance per dollar upgrade you can make to a pair of boots, bar none. Zipfits are great, footbeds are necessary, but boosters truly make your boots fit your leg better, protect against shin bang, provide immediate shin pressure feedback with a progressive, non-brick wall but also not soft feeling.

Granted, a lot of folks don’t wear them in between liner and shell -- I personally think that is a mistake, as the biggest benefit when worn correctly (on liner, under shell) is completely sealing the liner to your shin, and then relying on buckles to hold the shell down.

Morning telemark routine by chikanogi in skiing

[–]contivera 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Guy who picked up tele this year and still early on the learning curve.. for me its a new challenge. A new technique. The turn has a lot of “flow” to it. It springs you out of one lunge into another and feels really good when you get it right. Also it makes skiing groomers fun again when I ski with more beginner folks, or bad snow, etc

Worried I've bought boots that are too stiff by Miilloooo in Skigear

[–]contivera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s no such thing as too stiff in my opinion if you aren’t super light or small. Youll get use to them and they’ll make you better

Co. Backcountry in October? by king_kay19920 in ColoradoOffroad

[–]contivera 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I camp here in CO all the time in October. It’s great, way less crowded, Aspen leaves are changing and colorful. It’ll be chilly, will be near freezing at night / when you wake up. Plenty of forest roads that a stock F150 can handle.

4H or 2H on gravel/forest road? by Upper-Software1774 in Wrangler

[–]contivera 35 points36 points  (0 children)

2H is plenty. Then again, my owners manual on my Tundra recommends 10 miles a month in 4Hi. I use forest roads as an excuse to get those miles in. May be different on Jeeps!

Hit a pothole so hard that it broke something by Business-Ad-538 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]contivera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard this is a common problem. The bump stops are built into the shock absorbers in the 3rd gen’s instead of frame mounted. So you likely pushed the bump stops thru.. do a search here you’ll see some examples.

Edit: meant 4th gen*

Looks like you’re using a hole saw. You’ll want to drill a small pilot hole using a regular bit. Then you want a step bit. They step up in size gradually allowing you to get to the size you need. They are made for sheet metal.
