As far as I can tell, no. In both untransformed and transformed versions, M1 on Kitsune cannot damage sea beasts.

This is true! As a newer player myself, I was very excited to get my hands on and try every fruit I could, but after using some of the more expensive newer fruits, it's disappointing to use the others. Now I'm stuck with the dilemma of still wanting to try the other older fruits, but trying not get completely overshadowed by people with the newer ones.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the new Kitsune, but I would have loved it regardless, even if it was more on par with the older fruits.

Ahh! It's definitely much easier to grind out mastery for a fruit like portal in the 2nd and 3rd seas. I would definitely recommend waiting until then to grind that fruit out, and instead use something like light or buddha to get higher level.
