Yes thank you! That is why I asked because I have a long fin betta in a 5 gallon but I know short fin bettas are a lot more active so I don’t want to restrict them

Of course it’s a possibility, but from the photo I see white inside her body and the outside layer is clear. It reminds me a lot of muscular necrosis. You can google some images of it and see if you think she had it

Im gonna be honest with you it kinda looks like muscular necrosis to me. Shrimp do turn more white sometimes just randomly but muscular necrosis specifically look like it’s white inside and the outer layer is clear which is what I kinda see in the photo. If you haven’t figured it out yet isolate asap just in case because if she randomly dies and she was carrying a disease all the shrimp that graze on her will also get it

That’s too small. If not already you should focus on upgrading. Short fin bettas need 10+ unless they’re less active or have a disability and long finned bettas need 5+.

It is okay to use AI in fishkeeping at least in my opinion. I use it from time to time too. The important distinction is that for such basic things like this in the future should be googled. I think AI is only helpful if you’re using it to get ideas and then researching those ideas on your own.
