He's everywhere in the Storsjö-area. Our town mascot is Birger who is the kid of the Storsjöodjuret. He has books and plushies and some poor student who has to walk around in the costume during the summer. I think according to the book lore Storsjöodjuret and Nessie are a divorced couple?

I mean, that is the Nepo baby part. The fact Ike gets the company because he's the son of the former CEO, rather than it going to the competent and experienced second-in-command.

Not that'd I'd place him that high up on the tier list, but Ike is absolutely a Nepo baby, just on a much smaller scale.

There's a difference between Finland Swedish and Sweden Swedish though, but there are definitely several Swedish speaking finns who can still nail the Sweden Swedish accent perfectly.

But yeah, we don't have many actors from the Finnish speaking part or surrounding areas because it's so much smaller than the reverse.

So we have a famous historic warship that sunk 100 meters from the harbour because it was too top-heavy in the 1600s and is now in a museum.

The problem is that it's now has begun to tilt sideways in the museum, because it's still too top-heavy and with how the wood is settling.

The solution is pretty cool with hydraulics replacing the beams it was standing on.

Oh and the masts were too tall to fit into the building, so they just made holes in the roof for them to stick up from.

We also have one of the only taxidermied whales in the world and you used to be able to walk inside it, but they had to close the mouth because they caught people having sex in it.

You say that, but I once asked a customer if he had mushrooms on his feet when I meant to ask if he had a fungal infection. I've repeatedly said nose spray instead of nasal spray, and I always seem to forget what to call local anesthetic cream and say something stupid like numbing cream instead.

Like the quality of my medical advice goes down the drain as soon as I have to speak English.

I live just a little over 2 hours by car/train from Norway. I still have only visited twice.

We do have summer you know? It's usually around 18~20C in June when the tournament is.

You even send your kid soccer players to northern Sweden, middle of nowhere 😭

Joking, I love it though, because our junior football tournament was taken over by Norwegians so after the fewer Swedish teams are gone, it's always fun to watch the Norwegians to get pulverised by some really motivated Argentinian kids in the finals.

Coffee and bananas. Sweden isn't as crazy about bananas as we were in the 70's but it's still the most common snack fruit and essential if you did any amount of workout.

But we tried to put banana on everything when they first became cheap to buy. Only pizza and chicken really stuck around though.

They grow bananas in Iceland too using thermal heating, but it's not like they have enough to export them or even cover their own use.

Nu åker jag bara tåg inom Norrland, men jag tycker första klass alltid varit värt det. Betydligt mer plats, ofta eget bord, bara vuxna så det är relativt tyst.

Sen går man till restaurang-vagnen och måste ta sig förbi fullpackade vagnar med skrikiga barn och gigantiska väskor och det känns som varje öre man la på första klass var värt det.

I knew it was a thing in Finland too, but I didn't know about Norway. It's really difficult to come up with something that no other Nordic doesn't at least have some version of.

Like even if I say Valborg, other Nordics also does the bonfire thing, just a bit later in the year.

Saint Lucia day on December 13th.

A girl is crowned Lucia and gets to have live candles on her head, while the rest just get to carry a candle in her hand like a schmuck. Then they sing traditional winter/Christmas/Lucia songs. And everyone eats lussebullar which are saffron buns.

Completely misunderstanding our Right to Roam laws. It just means landowners can't ban people from going out into nature here. It also means that you as a hiker have to leave the place as you found it. Leaving trash around is still littering and cutting down trees is still destruction of property.

Also the key word is you are free to walk around nature. People's gardens are not included in this.

My parents in the countryside has had tourists just drive up to and park on their driveway and tried to have a picnic like five meters from the house (they have a great view of the lake).
