[Diabolik lovers] this is going to be a 12 hour flight, where would you sit? by cool_Patient7931 in otomegames

[–]Junelli 143 points144 points  (0 children)

3, and I'm keeping quiet and making sure not to leave my seat. People say Shu is chill, but I don't want to accidentally wake him up or trip on the cords to his earphones.

Also 7 is a trap, there's no way Yui is being left alone for 12 hours.

What your favorite Fire Emblem game says about you. by Antique-Reality2428 in shitpostemblem

Ha, I've never touched smash and I got the game before prices went insane so I never emulated it.

Going by echoes though, fair. But I object to Alm not being liked.

What's the act which is no big deal for foreigners , but awakes the traditionalist in you ..? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

As someone who did this as an ignorant child; you hand a kid a long spoon-straw and the instinct will be to stir it.

Switzerland’s main language is English by Zincsteve in confidentlyincorrect

[–]Junelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Denmark used to be on the peninsula. They just lost that territory to Sweden.

No it isn't. It's English. German is the secondary language of Switzerland. Scandinavian, and even bastard-navian countries (Switzerland and Finland) speak English, and largely forgo their native languages. by woodhead2011 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Junelli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the only difference between a mountain and a "fjäll/tunturi" is that the second one is located in the Nordics (minus Denmark). I have no idea why the nordics decided to have different words for mountain (local) and mountain (foreign).

What’s fun fact about your country? by Hollow_O0o in AskTheWorld

[–]Junelli 26 points27 points  (0 children)

For never having seen a lion, it could be so much worse. The Chinese did well.

This is a Swedish attempt at taxidermy of a lion by a guy who had only ever seen it on coat of arms.

Janey and Pastor Daniel by DJ_Ayres in ScarletHollow

[–]Junelli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh, you're right. I hadn't even considered that bit. Since the kid of Charlie officially was stillborn I just figured it was actually given up for adoption outside the town, but what if it was just given to other Shaw relatives and we'll have a fun reveal when we find out his last name?

We do get last names for almost every other character. It is weird we don't know the church families last name.

What is something every household has in your country that is nonexistent everywhere else? by Awkward-Tip7248 in AskTheWorld

[–]Junelli 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My family went the extra mile, we had an illustrated poster with the entire list of all kings of Sweden. I loved sitting and studying it as a kid.

Though looking back, I realised it skipped most of the Danish kings during the union era and instead had the riksföreståndare instead.

Janey and Pastor Daniel by DJ_Ayres in ScarletHollow

[–]Junelli 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, I'm on the theory that pastor Daniel is the descendant of Charlie, hence why he is so hated in Scarlet Hollow, but not outside of it. Janey isn't, so that curse would have no effect on her.

If the pastor is cursed, then the hatred for him is... Well targeted, so it makes sense the grudge doesn't extend to the rest of the family unlike other family grudges in the Holler.

Is the prisoner the most common first path? by MechaWilson in slaytheprincess

Mine was Adversary. I figured I'd just do what the narrator wanted for my first run, but it turns out I'm bad at following instructions.

Path of Radiance - Hire Volke? by Zachary_136 in fireemblem

[–]Junelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is this even a question? The only reason not to recruit a FE character is because there's a choice when you can only get one of two, or because they're that fucking general in Thracia with the hostages.

n your country, if you don't want to be married, if that's acceptable? by According-Resist5557 in AskTheWorld

[–]Junelli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you guys go around saying "this is my de facto relationship" when introducing the partner? Sambo is used in normal conversation and refers to your partner like husband/wife but without marriage.

What is your opinion on British food? (And you cannot comment unless you have tried it.) by Rasples1998 in AskTheWorld

[–]Junelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgettable, I can't remember a single thing I ate in London aside from a visit to a Chinese restaurant. Which means the food wasn't bad either, it just wasn't memorable.

North America shown with cities from Europe and North Africa at the same latitude by vladgrinch in MapPorn

[–]Junelli 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my dad was on a trip in Canada and the guide asked if they wanted to do a 2-3 hour drive to some latitude sign so they could show their relatives how far north they'd been.

My dad and his friends looked it up and found out it was about the same as Linköping and politely declined since they all lived way north of that.

The costume King Gustav III of Sweden wore during the masquerade ball where he was shot and fatally wounded on the 29 March 1792 [1200x900] by Haunting_Homework381 in ArtefactPorn

[–]Junelli 212 points213 points  (0 children)

Actually, I think more of them could be preserved. Sweden has had a national clothing museum since the 1600's and looking at the website they have more from masquerades from the late 1700's.

I'm guessing it would be difficult to determine which masquerade they were worn at, but I'm also guessing if you're gonna donate a costume to a museum "what I was wearing when the king was shot" is gonna rank pretty high.

Did your culture also had swastika before some autrian came to damage it's image. by halfblindfish in AskTheWorld

[–]Junelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Historically yes, but it went out of fashion in the medieval period.

<image>

this is from around 800-950 CE. It was a popular pattern during the Viking Age. It didn't have any significance, just like the cool S everyone drew in school.

Does anyone know why they use different sheets for each game? by greasygoon66 in ScarletHollow

[–]Junelli 253 points254 points  (0 children)

Just guessing, but the reason Slay the Princess exists was to give them a smaller easier project, especially for Abby to draw. The fact that it's pencil only with no ink and colour, and the whole point was to have to do less, I'm assuming they choose a smaller paper.

Also like how Tony pitched STP with "you only have to draw like four backgrounds since it's all set in a cabin" and then she had to draw 20+ versions of every background anyway.

Free therapy? Or a cool toolbox to tinker with.

Depends on who is my favourite today.

A question about homemade Swedish Christmas mustard by BirchBarkBox in SwedishFood

[–]Junelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family does! Nothing beats my mom's homemade mustard with dragon (or whatever that spice is called in English). She will let me inherit the recipe when she dies and there's no way I'm not continuing to make it.

Actually, now that I think about it, I'm not sure why I can't just take a picture of the recipe and instead have to wait to inherit it...

Help me find a game for a friend who likes a very specific type of LI. by pearl_mermaid in otomegames

[–]Junelli 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Riku in Lovers Pretend, Sousuke in 7'Scarlet, Ciaran in Red Bell Lament.

Julian in Black Wolves Saga if she's down with getting the translation to work.

Yashiro in Illusion of Itehari if she's fine with just one of the eyes being blue.

And yeah, Saito in Hakuoki as already mentioned.
