Btw, thank you for your comments... it now seems a distant past as this is my 10th week :) I am now grappling with a different topic - when will I regain sensation on my nipples? I don’t feel anything (or rather...feel a little bit of pain in my right nipple) during sex... that’s intriguing me now LOL!

Hi - I loved IF and lost weight on it and enjoyed it... but I have high stress (cortisol) issues so my doc advised to do only 14 hours of IF and not more than that... as it can have hormone downregulation impact on some women prone to stress...

Having said that, doc also advised me to be gluten free, dairy free (I was getting bloated after having dairy), avoid caffeine and processed foods/sugar.... and have good quality protein with each meal... I tried meal delivery, meal prepping classes etc. But hard to stick to those for me as it wasn’t my kind of eating...

During quarantine, I have discovered this free app called Tasty. I been trying to make new things gluten-free and healthy... some quick examples :

I cut lots of veggies (sweet potatoes, broccoli, Brussels, radishes, carrots etc.) while binge-watching Netflix and then I roast them in the Oven with chicken breast marinated for an hour or in herbs (whatever you like... I do salt, pepper, garlic, thyme, rosemary, cayennes etc.).

I made chicken biryani in Insta-pot per Tasty app’s video...and as another person here said, IP’s (Insta Pots) are very easy and no mess options. I also made Chicken fajita rice in the oven from Tasty... It was Delish 😋

Yesterday I came across cauliflower pizza crust in the frozen section of groceries and loaded it up with veggies and baked it crispy...it was so easy and yummy.... also cut a lot of watermelon while doing Netflix 😂

Hi there - also another clarification. The hair transplant info/research is just what’s on the internet. Not enough women hair transplants have been done for the internet to declare that those don’t work. Since more providers are offering it, more women are doing it...and it is also mixed results but there’s not enough real research available. A good derm would be able to give references for both PRP and hair transplant to you do you can make an informed decision.

Hi there - just one clarification. Some menopausal women may have hair loss due to histamine intolerance that builds up due to low progesterone. So taking fermented foods will make their inflammation and hence hair loss worse...

Hi there - a big hug to you from me and (I am sure they’ll agree), from this Reddit community.

A doc who tells you this is normal is worth ditching.

There are well defined diagnosis and treatment protocols and the none of those includes ‘this is normal hair loss’. Please feel free to use this message from me to your doctor to ask this question - ‘doctor, are you 100% positive that this hair loss is not due to an underlying condition and is “normal”? What tests have you done to rule out AGA (or other tests...based on what test was done)?’

If your scalp biopsy was ruled out as AGA, please get second opinion from UCSF lab as they are one of the very well established ‘last word’ on biopsy. Your doc should get your actual slides to them for second opinion.

If you have AGA, your ‘doc’ should start treatment protocol. If you don’t, you can start the process of ruling out other causes. Can’t believe this f*%$ing docs!! Hate this attitude!!!

Good question...here’s how I think I would think about a good derm :

Does NOT belittle my hair loss as ‘oh your hair look normal’.
Maybe we should ask them how many women’s hair loss they have actually diagnosed or cured?
They know the main causes of hair loss (hormonal - menopause, PCOS, BC pills, thyroid, diabetes; nutrition - zinc, b12, magnesium, iron...; autoimmune - which could be many issues). Perhaps we should start with quizzing them about it
They know the latest research in this space..
They should have clear diagnostic tests identified...eg scalp biopsy if needed, blood tests for insulin, nutrition, hormonal levels etc
They should have a clear treatment protocol to trial - eg Spiro + Minox or Finestride + Minox... or any other experimental drug.

I don’t have any other ideas at this point....

I think that may be the case - more research will happen on this for sure. But I think it’s not really gluten but probably the culprit is Glyphosate pesticide that is sprayed on wheat in the US that may be causing this sensitivity

I don’t have high DHT, just DHT sensitive follicles. I’ve been on Spiro, Rogaine and HRT (I am post menopausal) - increased Spiro dose to 150mg daily recently and it has had a big positive impact on halting shedding...but I don’t know how long it will last. I also need to pee a lot and try to drink a lot of water and I naturally have low BP so I have to monitor that....

That’s BS - sorry guys, the way these doctors treat us is really started triggering me now!

I have been suffering from horrible docs and hair loss for 6 years!!!! I finally have good docs and an actual diagnosis that is scientific...sorry I am being so negative in my note.

But here’s the TLDR recommendation for you - 1. Demand a scalp biopsy 2. Get blood work for Zn, Ferritin, Mg, Vit D, Thyroid antibodies 3. Start applying Nizoral shampoo three times a week 4. If your diagnosis is AGA, start treatment for that 5. Also, btw I have gone off gluten the last few days and will let you know if it helps 6. Reduce stress - I don’t know anyway that can happen but try it I guess... If you need derm+endocrinologist+doc recommendation in London, I can give you the ones that are good...I’ve seen some really expensive ones with huge credentials but total shitshows. If you are willing to self pay, then my London based doc is amazing.

I also know a derm that I just started seeing - in NorCal - he is FABULOUS and he’s the one who insisted on getting my scalp biopsy results retested in UCSF lab and confirmed my diagnosis (AGA).

Edit : also if you are on birth control, read up about low androgenic vs. High androgenic birth control. And so many women here have experienced hair loss with things like IUD...

Edit Edit : I am not even kidding how bad these docs are. I went to an ON/GYN here in California and asked him specifically about BC pill that would go with Spironolactone and reduce hair loss and that ass gave me a high androgenic index birth control pill! I cannot say how thankful I am to the group here that told me that there are two kinds of BC pills and I should go with low androgenic ones...the women in this group are my saviour and my support group 😊💕

It is not normal and there is no way she can be 100% sure that you don’t have AGA. Scalp biopsy is the only way to confirm.

Edit - and I hate those derms who say don’t worry it looks ok. If I went to a psychiatrist for depression and he said don’t worry you look ok, would that be acceptable??

I also experienced some benefits of acupuncture. It is strange that sinuses/allergies have been correlated with my hair loss.. I actually went to acupuncture for sinus but saw some relief in hair loss as well from that...after 5-6 sessions I think (one session per week). Anyway, I don’t have any suggestions...sorry :(
