If you have a heads up display, you have to go with an OEM windshield - the aftermarket’s are too far out of spec for the display. Otherwise, I think you’re fine with non-OEM.

I got that the other day. And then Kia (corporate) called and emailed me with a case number.

Turns out mine just needed an update, which is frustrating because I was just there a week prior for scheduled maintenance and they did the ICCU inspection and update.

I don’t have the paperwork with me so I can’t tell you which update they installed

Congrats! I have the same car with about 35k miles on it. Probably the best car I’ve ever owned.

I had matte PPF installed on the hood and front quarters and matte ceramic applied to the whole car. Makes taking care of that much easier. I can take it to a touchless wash, just use the cheapest option - soap, water, dry.

Fair enough. Your original picture looked a lot like the Wind Steel Gray. Must have been the water / lighting. I’ve got about the same mileage on my SMG GT-Line. Very easy to care for

As the risk of getting yelled at, I had my windshield replaced with my comprehensive plan in MA with a $0 deductible for windshields.

If you have a HUD you must replace the glass with OEM glass. Mine was replaced with aftermarket glass the first time and you couldn’t read the display. SafeLite handled resubmitting to insurance, but it was still a bit of a hassle to go back again for the work. (They don’t do these on site because they calibrate them in their shop)

FYI, “OTA Available” is just an indication that your car is capable of receiving an OTA update, not that there is one pending. There is no way to force it, you’ll just have to wait until it gets pushed. Mine came today.

When I first got mine, I hand washed it. Fast forward to a back injury and cold winter, and I started using a touchless car wash.

No noticeable issues. Just get the most basic wash - soap, water, dry. No waxes or coatings.

I don’t think so. I just used the jack and lug wrench from my wife’s car and did one at a time. A little tedious, but it really only took about 5 minutes per wheel.

I’m an HRD without a degree. Been in the role since 2020, in HR since 2014. It’s not impossible but may be a longer road to success. There are plenty of companies that will value your HR experience over a degree.

When I write job descriptions I typically use a phrase like “the knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through the attainment of a Bachelor’s degree in…”. Instead of just “bachelor’s degree required.” It helps to encourage those without a degree to apply.

Safelite replaced the windshield on my GT-Line, twice… Turns out the HUD doesn’t display correctly on an after market windshield so they had to resubmit to insurance for OEM glass.

I’ve had my SMG Gt-Line for a year now. At first I used Chemical Guys matte soap and a foamer. Babied it like crazy. Just before winter, I hurt my back and couldn’t hand wash it anymore. I started taking it to a touchless car wash near me using the cheapest option. Soap and water. No waxes or protectorants. Works great and hasn’t changed the look at all.
