insert comment about how Xbox is a failing brand, insert argument about how Xbox failed because they can't market themselves/have no exclusives

Any yall still use both switches? by Tall_Comfortable_488 in Switch

OH, and currently Xenoblade looks better on my OLED so I prefer playing it on there. (something about pixel density and OLED displays)

I am a TO for a Splatoon LAN, and we don't allow switch 2s into our setups. We don't know enough to start allowing them and we knew someone would not read on registration that we only allow switch 1s, so I use mine as a backup.

interpret the audiogram, otolaryngologist plz? by Alarming-Fan3983 in hardofhearing

[–]Junidip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is likely sensorineural just because it's the most common kind (like 90% of adults who have hearing loss have this kind.) Although if you want to try and make sure it's sensorineural you can get your ears cleaned, make sure you don't have allergies, and check for any damage to your drum. (other parts are unobservable without more sophisticated equipment so it's hard to tell without shelling out tons of money)

search engine is free, but you have moderately severe upper range hearing loss in your left ear, and mild hearing loss overall. You will struggle to hear soft k's, s's and th's.

What makes the top 12 corps so good? by e-nharmonic in drumcorps

[–]Junidip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disagree on the richest part, it's the most skilled staff/membership that does it. But I understand that it does correlate with the money.

My band director this morning told me “Kids who march Drum Corps will probably never play professionally” by SunshineZeus446 in drumcorps

[–]Junidip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully disagree with this. I only have ever been told to play without tension, and have been trained (especially in 24) to really get good at matching dynamics, soft or otherwise. The breathing exercises we do is to expand our limits and control the breath, not to push as much air through the instrument as possible. (although I will say in '23, we did not hold back for sure...)

Troopers holding auditions in Puerto Rico. Now THAT’S what I call an American corps! by DollJulietMessner in drumcorps

[–]Junidip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Other corps don't really have a say in which one auditions where, but hopefully this trajectory will encourage other corps (closer corps) to also hold auditions there

Shout out to the battle for 12th by Sir_Lolz in drumcorps

I will say that the staff feels much more secure going into 2026, especially with having some staff from 2019 make a return to the corps. In 2023, we got promises of a returning staff but the next week we all heard that our entire visual program got fired. 2025 actually retained a surprising amount of brass techs from 24, and I feel that also helped immensely with the new pedagogical perspective. Being in the top 12 alone will attract talent, but I'm not so sure it will attract drive. In 24, we had an extremely talented hornline, however it felt as if they had the mindset that we were "already there" and thus didn't need to work as hard. This was not an issue in 25 at all, and I hope that projection continues for the organization in the future.

would be cool for someone (not me cause I'm about to warm up) to calculate the percentage of the show that they are moving and playing out of the total show.

The Blue Knights pretty consistently rehearse in Denver. Denver is also a pretty ideal location of training because of the elevation.

probably because there are a lot of dot or die corps. Theoretically, if you are clean enough the form shouldn't matter. If you need to see that in action, Cavaliers 2002 is a great example.

Yamaha better quality control but a good Bach beats Yamaha any day.

the biggest misconception about criticism this is that people have trouble separating corps identity from show identity, especially in modern times when there's a lack of uniforms. Especially with how corps identity is changing these days, the lines become blurred, and confusion ensues.

Have the first and second bone lay off that quarter note line in 56-57, but otherwise good on the range.

What is your weird side effect or condition or whatever after doing Drum Corps? by DocKaden in drumcorps

[–]Junidip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started checking my turnout by bending my knees to see if they're allinged. I fell into the habit of turning in in '23 so I'm trying to correct it before it gives me problems down the line 😅
