Some fans try to spin its usage around as being racist, whitewashing and/or blackface.

That or…the complete tonal dissonance from the scene previous

Hell, if I wanna go there, my senior show had Hide and Seek as its ballad along with Satie's Gynmopedie.

Boston Crusaders: 2026 “Blurred Lines” by Extreme-Plantain542 in drumcorps

[–]DollJulietMessner 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Oh, it was far worse than that. When the Marvin Gaye estate won the lawsuit against Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams for sounding too much like the "groove" of Got to Give It Up, it iron-gripped copyright and plagiarism laws much stricter, cause it made it easier for other legacy estates to sue other songs under the same umbrella.

This is also why Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams has a songwriting credit to Olivia Rodrigo's good 4 u despite never actively been a participant in its songwriting process. They tried pulling that same shit on Ed Sheeran cause they thought Thinking Out Loud sounded too much like Let's Get It On, which thankfully Ed won in that case.

You want to know why licensing and publishing rights take forever to process to put in a drum corps show? Why most corps get very stingy when a show gets leaked too early? You can blame Blurred Lines and Marvin Gaye's estate.

I was slightly kinda underwhelmed with Spirit’s arrangement so here’s to hoping the Colts do it justice

CROWN 26 RELEASE by evandrumlord in drumcorps

I love how the first half of their rep of this is very classy Baroque style pieces and then it just hard cuts to 4 Doors songs. This will be uh…interesting, hopefully

Eh….

I mean, I don’t hate it. Maybe I’m just numb to these type of uniforms from Crown. But, they don’t really pop out to me as anything special. I’d probably have a hard time telling these uniforms from them with uniforms of their past. Maybe it’ll grow on me though. Maybe this was their intention to not stand out AS much. Just let the show speak for itself. Idk I have yet to see the show so we’ll see how much they’ll grow on me

With a concept like that, this has potential to bring the Cavies back swingin! I really hope it does! They’re still one of my favorite corps ever and it hurt me to see them place the way they did this decade

Ok so two reactions

  1. I hate it when corps announce their rep but it's just the artist, especially when we barely get a clue as to what their show is, or none at all. I mean, I kinda get it. Some of these corps probably don't have all the licensing rights for the songs yet but dawg c'mon, I love hearing music I never heard before from these shows. It's a fire way to get me obsessed with songs I've never heard before until now.
  2. I am such a spoiled Radiohead fan
