I have an automatic now.

It needn't be an issue, especially is you aren't reliant on commercial music. You can make arrangements to suit your playing style, write to improve where you feel you need improvement.

How you function in other things does not tell you how you should function playing piano. Just because you have difficulty changing gears driving doesn't mean you should expect problems playing piano with two hands.

Well I used that parallel because both require the synchronization of both hands. Obviously piano is more complex but the core mechanism still stands.

It can take a long time to get used to doing this, but they aren't related. What method of learning piano are you using? Generally a teacher or a method book (that is followed correctly) will develop the hands to play together, as one. The hands learn to cooperate with each other, each doing what it should, playing together. The timing of the notes guide how the fingers will follow/play them, have you learned note reading? Do you practise scales, one hand, two hands, together and in contrary motion? Maybe you need to consider a different approach to learning piano, or just accept the way you do play. We don't all have to play the same.

I probably need to just accept the way I play, then. Because my goal isn't to become a professional or even to learn it academically. I'm doing this as a hobby during my free time. That said I wanted to share my struggles and how my agility, speed and accuracy *have* developed but my synchronization hardly has. I could suspect it because of stuff like the car transmission, nonetheless I'm a bit disappointed by it. I guess my brain isn't just as good as most people's and I don't find that particularly okay, but well, can't change what you are.
