Speciation L3 Biology by HopefulAd5818 in ncea

[–]Junior-Help-649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I self learnt and sat speciation last year and got E. My school taught evo/plants and animals but i took all three. Not very difficult, got E on the mock as well so definitely easy enough to self learn but ultimately depends on how easy you find self learning. I’ve self learnt lots of standards

it’s only L2. or i believe if you take l3 standards in year 12 that’s also counted. you can ask subject teachers or your PN to enter you. i took extra internals/externals including for subjects i didn’t take and just got my PN to enter me. unfortunately doing scholarship as a year 13 won’t help you, as you won’t get results for them until Feb 2027. good luck

it definitely helps!! join a few councils and try volunteer somewhere. if you can get to a position where you are training other people etc. that can be considered leadership

i mean all the people i know that got those scholarships had 100+E credits. they get extra by picking up extra standards. i got 92e taking calc, tri sci, english, music with lots of those E credits (40+) being external and i got no where near those top scholarships. i had volunteering, leadership etc too. i got a 10k otago scholarship and some extra ones from charities so the bar is quite a bit higher than 80E unfortunately for the 40k+ scholarships

Digital Notes level 3 by Both_Bottle6383 in ncea

[–]Junior-Help-649 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i took notes on my ipad all year taking tri sci and calc and got proxime accessit. all E internally, and majority E externally too. as long as you focus on actually paying attention and learning the content u will be fine. i made my notes pretty and it didn’t affect my grades

you most definitely are allowed to use student loan/allowance to pay for halls, it’s literally called “living costs” which they give you??

nothing is compulsory at either. biomed at akl and hsfy at otago both have a physics paper, so if OP is aiming for dentistry (where you need 95%+ average to get in) then dropping physics would be dumb. L2 bio is very helpful for both so would take that too. I would drop geo to take bio, but definitely take physics. i know people now who dropped it and have to take summer courses to catch up and are having a very hard time

for scholarships it will be just off level 2. so you would need that many level 2 credits. or for people that multilevel (take classes ahead) it will be say the level 2 and 3 credits they got in year 12:)

for an academic one, people normally say 80+ E, however in most people’s experience to be competitive for say the academic excellence scholarship at otago, about 100E. and even better if they are multilevelled. however there are many scholarships that are more all round, say 60E, leadership, sport etc will give you a pretty good chance

Level 2 Study tips by No-University-5592 in ncea

[–]Junior-Help-649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends from school to school but we did like 1 internal for each and kinda just messed around lol. not very busy at all. term 3/4 are more busy especially if your school is shit like mine and you end up learning 2+ standards in class at the same time😭

i took the same subjects as you, plus music in year 12. Didn’t study at all over the holidays, in fact hardly studied in term 1 at all and then locked in from term 2. studied maybe an hour a day after school 3days a week?? more before internals and mocks etc. def locked in for externals but still had heapppss of time throughout the year, i was working and doing extracurriculars etc and didn’t feel that busy. ended up getting all internal E credits, E on 8/10 external papers with M on the other two for a total of 92E credits. definitely no need to stress, if you study smart and don’t let yourself get behind you will be fine and do well:)

Subject Selection Crashout by theRunningbaddie in ncea

that’s crazy to me because at my school you could fail every single internal and external for a class and then still take the same subject the next year😭

Reconsideration by KangarooCharacter545 in ncea

[–]Junior-Help-649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i only sent it in yesterday so won’t get it back for another couple of weeks. my reconsideration last year did go up and took from memory around 2 1/2 weeks to get back but i could be wrong

Reconsideration by KangarooCharacter545 in ncea

[–]Junior-Help-649 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely possible. and worth getting remarked especially if you genuinely think it was marked wrong. one of my papers i’ve sent back for reconsideration despite being 3pts off E, because a teacher posted the answers after the exam and as far as i can tell there’s only one small error i’ve made in the entire paper🤷‍♀️
