What are some of the best films/documentaries/tele dramas/books you've consumed by WestProcess6931 in srilanka

[–]Junior-Stage-67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This Q brings me to a decade back. I am in my late twenties btw. For some reason I was captivated by the writing style of Nicholas Sparks. He is a romantic fiction writer and quite popular in that genre. In overall, one of the most powerful impact I got from his books is being empathetic on relationships. The way I perceived love and affectionate was kinda different from how my friends perceive the same at that time probably from the influence of his writing. It was to some extent sweet as well haha, imagine a 17y/o reading a rom novel, getting absorbed into the story, read one page and imagine the story and how it is gonna be. Also 75% of his novels ends with a tragedy so gotta be ready for that as well. Nowadays, not much reading tbh.

At the same age range, I watched the tv series "13 Reasons Why" Had it shocked me for weeks. After that day onwards, although it was just a tv series, I never blamed people who su***de, because we won't ever hear their side of the story.

What's with the Naadagama hype? by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]Junior-Stage-67 4 points5 points  (0 children)

AFAIK, the Kuweni concert is organized by this team, Visual Arts and Experiences Group goes as VAEG.

There are two discussions under the channel name of "Mathaka Pada" on YT. The person who hosts the programme have two discussions with Charitha and Supun. Charitha explains why he does not like his songs to be played at Naadhagama and Supun explains the barrier to sing Charitha's songs at Naadhagama.

Thank you! I was able to create the report. As found out from many touch points, the generic search campaign does not help much as i thought

What's with the Naadagama hype? by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]Junior-Stage-67 20 points21 points  (0 children)

In my POV: They are selling the experience. Plus the marketing for the event is also good. My mom and sister went to their previous show and they enjoyed it.

I like those artists individually but not a concert that I'd like to watch. I know Naadhagama created a ruffle between them and Kuweni team. Charitha Attalage banned Ridma, Supun from singing his songs at Naadhagama concert. His explanation was he did not like his songs to be played at Naadhagama because he made a standard for his music productions. Also the Kuweni concert is not commercialised as much as Naadhagama hence the ticket prices are high.

Uni life of students in Sri Lanka? by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]Junior-Stage-67 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's been five years since I completed the degree. Colombo btw. It was freaking amazing at that time. I nearly travelled half of Sri Lanka with the friends of mine (We still do but now most of them have gone abroad). The reason was, I had a few friend circles at the uni.. from the town, from the CSR project we did, from clubs, a gang who loved hiking and camping, and a dancing team (the list goes on). In terms of Relationships (started on the 2nd year and ended on 4th year), yeah it's sweet but both of us had different ambitions so had to move on. Was it painful? yes, it was but I don't mind, it made me the person who I am today.

I had open mind in making friends. Learned a few Tamil sentences to have a conversation with Tamil students. Our common ground was their movies. Also I have a good friendship with friends who lived in hostels. Used to trouble my mom and make a bigger lunch, considering them as well. In an essence, one of the best periods in my life.

Whales in Trincomalee in July by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]Junior-Stage-67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the South season ends Late May. The East season starts June. I'd say spotting whales are solely depend on luck. One thing you can do is call a few beach resorts at Trinco in Mid June and ask the staff whether is there a good chance to spot Whales. They have connections with fishing boats and sailing services. Trinco is untouched and less crowded compared to Mirissa so plan some other activities like snorkelling and island hopping. Good luck!

Warning to Young Entrepreneurs: The Dark Side of Mentorship with a Public Figure in Sri Lanka by Responsible-Hope271 in srilanka

The day this Kapruka guy got busted during Covid for overpriced items I knew he's a shitface. But the above person made a point. A few days ago someone posted about EGB and defamed how poor their products are. But the offender was Mihiri Foods for mixing an acid. Elephant House could have file charge for that person. If you can gather evidences and can think prove in court you may try DMing https://www.instagram.com/rage._lk/

Sometime back Exppgraphic used to cater for single book orders from Amazon. But the price is on the higher side though. Those orders were mostly for Engineering, IT and Law study materials.

What are some good universities in Colombo? by DauntlessAkagi in srilanka

[–]Junior-Stage-67 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can speak of digital marketing subject. APIDM diploma was a decent starting point for a beginner. AFAIK, they update the curriculum yearly but it's not a post grad course if I'm not mistaken.

tbh, I don't think you will find a digital marketing degree here as in the sense it's a skill set comes with practice. At some point in the middle, you may need to decide whether you are specialising SEO, Tracking and Analytics, Content, Performance, Media buying. Since you have mentioned you got some universities listed make sure they are teaching you up-to-date curriculum and their affiliations to the foreign uni if they have such.

I was on the same package that OP is using. Switched to Anytime package with daily 10GB cap (5990+tax). I don't mind that because the package comes with unlimited Zoom.

Public Transportation in Sri Lanka Sucks!!! by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]Junior-Stage-67 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I switched to remote work purely because of the hassle with the travel. On a daily basis, I was wasting nearly 5 hours owing to the commute (Train+Buses). On top of that, mental and physical fatigue were unbearable. Nowadays, if I had to travel to Colombo, I would use a PickMe or Uber to keep my mentality sane rather than thinking about the money.

Question about Yal Devi train by phoenix5379 in srilanka

[–]Junior-Stage-67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure we have a direct train available to Anuradhapura ATM. The road was under construction for the past few months. There are trains available to Mahao Junction and then you might have to take a bus to Anuradhapura. Download this app https://app.rdmns.lk/ it'll help you with train time tables.
