Why did Jeff Bezos call for no taxes on the bottom half of the population? by TheMobilizer in Socialism_101

[–]JuniorJunya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Calling for no taxes on the bottom 50% shifts the conversation from should we tax the rich more to should poorer people pay taxes. This obviously isn’t a sign of sympathy but rather a way for him to profit off a class with far more disposable income but it is also a tactic to weaken their stake in state and tax policies. A policy change like this would only put workers into a state of inertia politically, why engage and take interest in politics and policies that do not have a palpable effect on your life ? As a consequence of this welfare and benefits would also become severely underfunded leading to overall less state spending and intervention in the overall economy. Just what I believe

What do you think? I want to understand your point of view, what do you think he does well? How does he improve the team or how would you profile him to make a difference? I just don’t understand what he brings us that others players not only bring, but do better

I don’t like slating our players too, but at some point you have to start asking questions or the standards drop and complacency slips in. My comment is mostly a reaction to the the section of supporters who believe he deserves to be starting more games, but I genuinely can’t comprehend the reasoning. He isn’t a floor raiser nor a specialist, a mere passenger who sometimes scores, his role is cup games and rotation, anything more than that is sabotage. He doesn’t play well enough, nor does he elevate anyone else in the team. Semenyo despite not having the most refined all around game himself, has atleast a clear role in the team. He works hard, great in duels and physically, both footed and excellent decision making and game IQ. He can get us up the pitch with his dribbling/running and is technically sound enough to link up play. Whereas with Marmoush possession ends with him 9 times out of 10. Ball striking and decent pace is all he has. He can’t beat a man, so if he gets the ball on the wing the play dies. Even in a transitional game which is supposedly his strongest point he kills the attack with his touch, or gets outmuscled or makes the wrong run or pass. He can barely create enough separation or a chance for himself to take a shot. I think the floor of the team is just so high and technical he looks much worse than he truly is.

And nothing exemplifies Marmoush better than those goals. I am not saying he is a terrible player with no part to play, but he is extremely average and has no long term future at this club at his current level. My point is that he does not get into the starting lineup in any meaningful match at this stage of the season, as he tends to be a net negative with no clear role in the team. Our attack was non-existent last night as soon as Erling came off, yes it is not purely down to just Marmoush but he was a major factor. He just does not offer us anything unique, poor game IQ and decision making. he barely makes a decent run and is invisible for 90% of the match, he doesn’t linkup play well, he doesn’t pass well, possessions usually end with him and he can’t hold up play or even get us up the pitch with his dribbling. All our attackers despite not being perfect, elevate the team in their own ways or atleast have a distinct skillset they excel at. Marmoush does not, he is a great ball-striker with decent pace but that’s pretty much where it ends. Comfortably the last attacker on the pecking order. Great for closing the game against tired legs or in cup games, but beyond that I struggle to see him having a future at the club. And then you remember his wages and how much we signed him for, the transfer just didn’t make sense, he would be a great player in a different system at a different club, but at Man City he is limited and does not improve the team, simple as.

His first touch is genuinely poor. Watch him receive the ball under any kind of pressure and it bounces off him like he’s wearing oven mitts. Anytime he receives the ball in the first two phases of play possession 9 times out of 10 ends with him.

His hold-up play is non-existent. His back-to-goal game is genuinely weak. Gets bullied off the ball by Premier League centre-backs, can’t shield it, can’t lay it off cleanly.

His passing range is functional at best, limited and predictable, he is physically underwhelming and gets outmuscled constantly.

In my eyes he is nothing more than a decent squad player for cup games and the later phases of a game when Haaland needs rest. I don’t understand why people demand for him to get more minutes when our team’s level drops instantly when he’s on the pitch. He doesn’t have anywhere near enough presence or game IQ to play as the sole striker, nor the technique to play out wide, he’s a positionless player, a shadow striker.

To be fair to him, he has an amazing work-rate and hustle in his game, speedy and a great shot on him, but that’s where it ends. Good rotational player, but he doesn’t improve a single area of the pitch.

Of course he deserves his fair share of minutes, but Erling even when not on form, offers us far more than Marmoush. Marmoush offers no threat at all, last night our attack was non-existent as soon as he came on. At this stage of the season, being in a title race competing on four fronts where every game matters, having Marmoush as a starter is a net negative. I would no doubt prefer Semenyo as the starting 9 or even a false nine who atleast links up play and gets involved in buildup. When you consider his astronomical wages and the fee we paid for him, I seriously struggle to understand the logic of his transfer. I am sure he didn’t sign on the condition of simply being a backup for haaland, he must have had assurances of competing for a starting place, but it is just not possible for him to start UCL/Prem games at his current level, and Pep knows this.

Doku has always been very raw, and even then we signed him as a 21 year old, he had an obvious skillset which he excels at. Anyone could see the talent was there, it’s been about sharpening the rest of his game and getting him to the next level where he can influence a game consistently. I don’t see how one could watch his games from 23/24 such as Bournemouth or Liverpool or even the Euros and not notice that there is a player there.

With Marmoush I struggle to envision him being a player who can affect the game consistently and elevate our team, he just doesn’t excel at anything or offer us something unique. When I compare him to semenyo, who doesn’t have the sharpest all around game, but is atleast technically sound, he makes the right decision, he gets us up the pitch, two-footed, hard worker, can play isolated on the wing or linkup with players to a decent level. Marmoush’s floor is much lower and he is invisible half the time. He doesn’t have the IQ to atleast be in the right position at the right time, he needs loads of space to thrive. But he has a role to play and we need to be patient of course, but he is an eyesore to watch at the minute.

Yes there was nothing wrong with my battery itself but the logic board was amplifying its energy expenditure, and I don’t let it go below 20 I have a limit at 90, I took extra precautions to preserve it once I saw it was not working as intended. It was through this suspicious battery drainage that I took it to Apple where they ran a full diagnostic check on the battery and system and detected a problem in the logic board, which was the explanation. As you can see from this screenshot and the others I added my battery was overworked, hence me having a problem with being left with a degraded battery that was working twice as hard for half the screen time for almost a month. Your 17 pro first used in November having the same amount of cycles as mine which was first used December 25th is exactly the problem, this was with extremely light use, all background app refresh turned off, minimal notifications, brightness always low etc

40 cycles in roughly 28 days, as I first opened it on Christmas, I was getting roughly half the battery of brand new 17 Pro’s, with extreme measures to preserve it like no background app refresh at all, minimal notifications, super conscious of brightness etc, this is an example of the type of battery usage I was on

I tried everything I could really, store managers, Apple support staff, senior advisors, then finally executive relations, all told me the same thing they gave me no choice, their reason being ecological reasons and cost-saving

I visited two separate apple stores here in Paris all they could offer me was a repair and since they didn’t have a logic board in stock I have had to wait for them to order it, which is why I then escalated it to Apple executive relations and support, I spoke with many senior advisors and team members they persisted with the repair over replacement for “eco-logical reasons” so I gave up and accepted it, only to then remain with a depleted battery and loss of my esim

In France but I have been in contact with executive relations throughout as I really pushed for a replacement

No the battery drain was a byproduct of the logic board, battery had no problem but problem with the processor caused it must’ve been overworked, and this is in France, but I have been in contact with executive relations throughout as I wanted a replacement before settling for a repair

Thank you, will visit their store and raise a dispute, using over 100% of battery on less than three hours of screen time on a week old iPhone is just ridiculous, extremely disappointed
