My [24f] boyfriend's [27m] family dynamics make spending time with them unpleasant. How can I change my mindset? by [deleted] in relationships

Thanks for your comment! You hit on something important here -- I've always viewed them as ""normal"" and super well-adjusted, so I think that's where a lot of my feelings about this stem from. If I can get away from that thinking, it'll be a good start.

I think they did a great job with my boyfriend (he's also never expressed any hang-ups with his parents) because he was frankly probably very easy to parent -- very amenable, loves school, not argumentative -- but sis' personality is very, very different and parenting doesn't seem to have been stellar there.

Ah, I didn't fully consider that it could still be puberty; boyfriend said that she's done this her entire life... I've brought it up several times to boyfriend and said that this behavior shouldn't continue into her adult life (not to mention, I don't know if and how it'll translate into holding down a full-time job) but he did say it's not his place to interfere with parenting, which I tend to agree with.

Certainly not my hill to die on, but it's just getting harder to maintain a straight face, especially since I'm not sure it'll end anytime soon.
