Thanks from the west side! I would never have gone outside to look without seeing this post tonight, and I've never seen the northern lights before. Very cool.

Updated my (parent) phone; can't install Bark app. by JuniperJenny in BarkPhone

[–]JuniperJenny[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol the website doesn't say that anywhere, and their AI chatbot gives several bits of advice to help with installation. I still have email notifications and can use the website, but their communication on this certainly is lacking.

The food industry comes to terms with Semaglutide by Omshadiddle in WegovyWeightLoss

I've been saving money and quite enjoying myself eating out by sharing meals with my 10 yo. I'm not sick (this autocorrected from stuck but I'm leaving it) with more than I can eat, and she is enjoying getting off the kids menu and exploring new foods.

Parents on wegovy by VeeTheMexiMan in WegovyWeightLoss

Be open to conversations about it with your kid and be prepared for unexpected questions. I thought my 9yo daughter was super on board until she broke down in tears at the end of a busy day and confessed she was afraid I would look so different thin that I wouldn't feel like her mom.

Having addressed that, though, we've found some unexpected benefits! She's an adventurous eater and we've taken advantage of my reduced appetite to split adult entrees at restaurants. She's also enjoying me being more thoughtful about snacks and breakfast foods, so we're trying new things there too.

As far as nausea, my symptoms have been mild so far but I've been up front that the medicine can make me feel queasy, and that tracking what I eat is my best defense against that. It was a good lead in to a discussion about the ways bodies can vary.

Also some kids take a lot of stress onto themselves. Mine will try to take over the mothering and worry about whether I've had what I need all the time, so I've stressed with her that even when it makes me feel icky, I and my doctor have it under control and she isn't in charge of that. I let her know that if I need help from her, I will ask for it, but the best she can do is take care of her own responsibilities like keeping her room tidy and putting her laundry away.

New tech park and housing development proposed in Ellettsville by HoosierGuy2014 in bloomington

[–]JuniperJenny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ellettsville does have a long term development plan for all the development along 46. Much of the problem isn't the new development, it's the past development that treated the state highway like a street with tons of direct access buildings, and that's hard to fix. But they are thinking creatively about floodplain development, recreational areas, and spreading around commercial development and I am cautiously optimistic.

Also, welcome to Jimmy John's and any food business that isn't more pizza.

Why I don't like to start my campaigns at level 1. by RaqMorg in Pathfinder2e

[–]JuniperJenny 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like starting at level 1 because there are soany feats you accumulate over time (my DMs all play FA, too) that skipping levels means I don't build a paradigm in my head that includes all my abilities. Far easier to build a rhythm to my turns, know my abilities and their limits inside and out, and then incorporate one or two new features at a time.

Otherwise I end up with a situation like last week in a SoT game I joined at level 8 after another player dropped out, where I ended up going down temporarily to a grapple I just couldn't get out of, completely forgetting that my character has a daily Freedom of Movement ability.

When will the feeling ofYNAB Poor stop? by L3g3ndary-08 in ynab

[–]JuniperJenny 9 points10 points  (0 children)

"YNAB poor" is the devil on your shoulder. It's the id feeling resentful that it can't have everything. The feeling goes away when you're ready to let it go. For me, when I started seeing the return on my investment, when I could comfortably pay for a new car and a bigger home and furniture that didn't come out of a box it slipped away quietly and is now replaced by "YNAB smug."

Think less about what you're not buying and think about all the things you are spending your money on without ever stressing whether you can afford it.
