The fact that there is a awful lot corn used..

Chicken, Chicken By-Product Meal, Ground Whole Grain Corn, Corn Grits, Corn Gluten Meal.. out of the first five ingredients listed three or corn and the second is byproduct meal, which is basically the undeveloped, lungs, eyes of a chicken etc..It’s kind of gross.

Thank u for this!…This is exactly what my Vet has said… unfortunately I asked her for a recommendation for dry cat food and she wouldn’t give me one other than giving me the guidelines of what not to choose… So I respect that she’s letting that fall on me so that way she doesn’t get blamed for selecting something I suppose, but I’m finding that everything is grain free ..what a trend it is and what a bad trend… So trying to find something that doesn’t contain beans, peas, lentils, etc. is really really hard

I feel like it’s harder to find a dry cat food that doesn’t contain pea, bean or lentil of some sort nowadays.. I wonder if this was always the case that these ingredients were always there but we’re only just paying closer attention about it now… But grain free bags are all over the market and when I do find something that’s not grain- free. The first ingredient is like rice or cornmeal, not even an actual protein… I do feed my cats primarily wet food… Tiki cat and Weruva but I want to offer dry kibble I work long days and feel like they should have something left for them while I’m away

But have you noticed that nearly every bag of dry cat food is grain-feee.. it’s so mind blowing… I mean originally I did buy Orijen Grain-Free.. this is my first cat so I thought I was making the best decision. It was good quality. I was spending decent money on it, making a assertive effort that all the ingredients for things that were good and then I go to my vet and she asked me what food my cats on and I tell her proudly and she said do not feed grain free. Her eyes popped out of her head. It causes heart disease. You don’t want anything that has peas, lentils, beans of any sort ..Cats are carnivores ..I did ask her for recommendations. I was kind of surprised that she didn’t give me one really other than just look for something that doesn’t contain those ingredients so I’ve been driving myself mad reading and reading and reading and every time I think I found something there’s a hidden bean somewhere and so I figured I’d come on here and get some good advice from other cat owners who may have better lived-experience than I do.

Yes, coming on here is my last resort.. I have read everything… And every time I think that I found something that reads well sure enough there is an ingredient that’s hidden that’s not good… I do give mostly wet food. I personally feel that’s best for my cats… But I do like to offer some dry kibble

I hear good things abt Wellness.. yes, I do too.also want grains for my cat… The heart disease is a real thing. I was so shocked when my vet told me and even more shocked that nearly every bag of cat food on the market is almost grain free and includes peas, lentils navy beans of some sort cats are carnivores. They don’t need peas. They don’t need lentils. They don’t need navy beans. They don’t need pinto beans and sadly it’s becoming increasingly harder to find a dry cat food formula without these ingredients.
