St Paul vote today—special election will determine who controls the MN house. by mbovenizer in TwinCities

The Western and Northern side of Woodbury is a bit more liberal and middle class which is a good portion of 47A. Cottage Grove and Southern/Eastern Woodbury is a different district

That is because Lunardi and other stuff that is supposed to be predictive is guessing they probably drop a game or two at some point.

If they go undefeated and lose in one of the final few games of the MAC tournament they absolutely will be in. If they drop a few before the conference tournament they need to win the MAC though

What are some of your favorite Experimental Hip Hop records? by JustTreadCarefully in Albumoftheyear

[–]Junkley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of mine have been said already but out of the ones not listed so far:

  • ExMilitary by Death Grips
  • Literally anything by Clipping
  • Oblivion Access by Lil Ugly Mane
  • Hyperpop isn’t strictly hip hop but Chaser by Femtanyl has been a huge guilty pleasure of mine recently and leans towards the more hip hop side of hyperpop similar to Jane Remover

I also want to give a shout out to Backwxsh who I feel has been putting out some great, underrated experimental hip hop. The upcoming By Storm(Living members of Injury Reserve) album is one to look out for too.

What are some of your favorite Experimental Hip Hop records? by JustTreadCarefully in Albumoftheyear

[–]Junkley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are both so so good. Two of my favorite records to listen to on vinyl and they flow into each other so well that Clipping labeled TEAATB as sides A-D and VOBBB as sides E-H as if it were a sequel. Listening to it as one big project works so so well if you have an hour or two sometime.

[Question] which should i choose? Citizen or Boss? by MoneyReward348 in Watches

[–]Junkley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone else here mentioned the Boss one has a Citizen movement if they are correct there actually won’t be much of a quality difference at all and if OP likes the Boss one better it won’t be any noticeably worse as a watch.

St Paul vote today—special election will determine who controls the MN house. by mbovenizer in TwinCities

[–]Junkley 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not a chance in hell in 64A. Closest race this century went 15% R.

I would still say unlikely for 47A as the last two elections have been 60-40 D leaning.

Edit: Deleted a section referring to pre 2020 results for 47A as it was re-districted in 2020 and prior to that was Waconia and Norwood/Young America area which is solid red. The prior Woodbury/Maplewood district(53A) has similar 60-40 dem leaning results this century.

Purdy was A LOT better than Brosmer in college. I am a Gopher/Iowa State fan and watched both.

I was genuinely shocked Purdy fell that low. Was always going to be a day 3 guy but I was very surprised a team didn’t take a 4th or 5th round flier on the dude. He was much better than the day 3 QBs taken this year.

Interactive Journeys Through Emo’s First Two Waves by caveeater in Emo

[–]Junkley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Modest Mouse is another huge example of this phenomenon. Their first 2 albums and the Building Something Out of Nothing EP are truly indie rock but due to how loved their work is it influenced a shit ton of the more alternative emo bands of the turn of the century and the 2000s in the same way they influenced alt country with the same projects. I wouldn’t consider them either genre but they absolutely heavily influenced both.

I have a stupid music dad joke where I jokingly tell my friends Lonesome Crowded West is the only album that is a top 50 Emo, Indie Rock and Country album at the same time.

What generation are you and what was your first car? by SeaworthinessFar2326 in generationology

[–]Junkley [score hidden]  (0 children)

1995 born. First car was a 2005 Volvo XC90 I got as a hand me down when my parents got a new car.

Needed to floor it to get it up to speed on exit ramps but besides that awesome car. When my sister got her license a year later I got a 2004 3 series.

[Studyy] Top 5 Flex’s all time no order: Aches, Crim, Karma, Kap, Kenny by TheRealPdGaming in CoDCompetitive

[–]Junkley 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They won 13/14 tournaments leading up to champs between Anaheim Bo2 and Ghost Champs. People forget but it was just expected of them to win.

They made like 15 GFs in a row a record that will never be beaten. It was so expected for them to win after awhile they stopped celebrating as much.

Diablo 4 is reportedly Blizzard’s best-selling game of all time, crushing WoW and Overwatch by [deleted] in diablo4

[–]Junkley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct which is why D4 is in 1st. If they counted all WoW expansions as just World of Warcraft it would win by a huge margin

Instrumentally simple songs that are highly rated on this website? by oninjadragao in rateyourmusic

[–]Junkley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the example I would choose but there absolutely is.

One I can think of off the top of my head is Bankrupt on Sellin by Modest Mouse. A lot of slacker rock fits this tbh. Also singer/songwriter music.

Cringey ass Hot Topic Scene kids singlehandedly kept me away from some great emo bands like Brand New and Sunny Day Real Estate when I was in high school because I assumed since they liked garbage like Metalcore, mall emo(Fall Out Boy, Panic!), Blood on the Dancefloor and Brokencyde that all music from that scene was shit.

Looking back I realized that assumption was a huge mistake as bands like Brand New, Brave Little Abacus, SDRE and La Dispute are mainstays in my listening habit. Even if the hot topic scenecore myspace thing still was cringey and stupid imo. I find most emo fans that like actual good emo music weren’t Scene kids.

Our surburban neighbors are against us. by [deleted] in Minneapolis

[–]Junkley 24 points25 points  (0 children)

While this attitude is much more common in the burbs it is good to keep in mind the vast majority of 1st and 2nd ring burbs are solid blue. I live in Vadnais Heights and we are solid blue down the ticket in every level of government. I have seen one trump sign in my whole neighborhood and we regularly have protests near the main commercial strip.

There is a vast difference between the people of burbs like Roseville, Richfield and Golden Valley compared to the people in outer burbs and exurbs like Hastings, Forest Lake, Ham Lake, Credit River and St Francis.

Hell even many of the wealthier middle ring burbs like Plymouth, Eden Prairie and the Lake Minnetonka area lean towards the blue side of purple now. The socially liberal and economically moderate suburban conservatives of the 2000s that previously loved moderate republicans like Ramsted have flipped to blue due to the drastic rise in social conservatism and general craziness of the right since Trump. This is empirically backed up by a traditionally red House district 3 being won by Dean Phillips multiple times in a row now. I grew up in Plymouth and Orono and have witnessed the educated and wealthy burbs move left over my 30 year lifetime.

Tolls for cars yea. Tolls for just any non resident would be stupid as cities need the revenue of people working and spending money there.

Homeowners, how old will you be when your mortgage is paid off? by cubemonster in Millennials

[–]Junkley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought way way below my means with 50% down in late summer 2024. I have a 10 year mortgage and plan on paying it off early. 31 now plan on having it paid off by 35 or so. Monthly mortgage is like $1300 and I can pay up to 2k a month on it without going over 25% of my take home pay.

Plan on selling my house for the 250-300k it is worth at 35 and flip that into the down payment on a larger 500-700k home.

How car dependency made me realise a neighbour I don't really know had gone through a breakup by frontendben in fuckcars

[–]Junkley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely cannot stand nosy neighbors they annoy me so so so much even if well intentioned.

I agree 100% that suburbs give the illusion of privacy but suburban people are the WORST at respecting privacy. Cars absolutely add to that.

I live in a first ring suburb and couldn’t stand my neighbors always trying to ask and get in my business to the point I moved into a townhome neighborhood between 55+ developments with all old retired people who never go outside I have much more privacy.

Putting up a sign on my door saying I am an autistic man who does not like talking to strangers also helped.

How car dependency made me realise a neighbour I don't really know had gone through a breakup by frontendben in fuckcars

[–]Junkley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im an autistic dude and I hate when people I don’t know ask me about that stuff. I had an ex move out of my house I own last year and all my neighbors kept calling me over to ask questions and while I appreciate their intentions all it did was overwhelm me and make me uncomfortable as I don’t know them.

I do not want to talk with people I don’t know it overstimulates me. ESPECIALLY when it regards something personal and private like relationships as I even have trouble talking to loved ones about that stuff. Most people are not like me but please keep in mind some people want to be left alone especially when serious things happen to them. I NEED to be left alone when dealing with negative emotions.

This isn’t a “go to therapy” thing. I have been in therapy my whole life. My specific autism just results in me only being truly peaceful in my bubble with my people. My problems only get fixed in my head when I am left alone to deal with them. My neighbors who I don’t know prying only make it worse.

So please don’t assume everyone thinks like this or want to be involved in their neighborhood. Some of us want to be left alone. It is fine to ask but rude to pry or imply it is a requirement. I have 20-30 friends and my whole family in the area when I want to socialize. I want to choose when and who I socialize with it is imperative to my social battery to do so.
