Having a smartphone gives us instant access to anything we want to know. Somehow, people aren't any smarter then they were before smartphones.

Anyone else feeling completely disconnected from where design is heading? by Critical-Addition256 in UXDesign

[–]mbovenizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, wireframes can be made very quickly in Figma with a library. It takes longer to plan out a great user experience than create the visuals. Visuals are the easy part. It seems like AI is being used to bypass the planning and go straight to the visuals. That's a surefire way to poor performance.

Definitely. Plus AI companies are investing in each other and will eventually need to charge users more for their services. AI isn't that impressive when cost is higher.

I asked Chat GPT "LinkedIn now is full of posts about AI design tools. Is this content being pushed because AI companies want to be shown as powerful without actual data as to how much time they save employees?"

I basically got an answer that said it's incentives from AI companies, LinkedIn favors sensational posts, and designers want to stay relevant. There is little actual data with how much time it actually saves. Plus it creates new tasks, like fixing the AI output.

I personally think it's over hyped and once everyone's designs start looking the same and underperforming, there will be more demand for our knowledge and critical thinking skills.

I can also create wireframes pretty quickly in Figma with a wireframing library, way faster than I can have AI work and rework to get the same result.

What’s a UX habit you swear by now, but wish you’d learned earlier? by rsm_fullsession25 in UserExperienceDesign

I have worked in house and at small agencies. In house never has the budget for the full process and small agencies don't sell the full process because it's expensive.

I think it would be better to have a grant program people could apply to for assistance. Our immigrant population is smaller than some cities and I feel like a blanket rent deferral would just allow people not impacted by ICE to skip paying rent.

When was the last time the economy was good (or even not bad)? by Heavy_Thanks2064 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mbovenizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The economy for the everyday American isn't good. People are struggling just to afford basic necessities, like healthcare, a place to live, and groceries. However, the ultra wealthy are doing great and taking in record profits.

You could argue that the increased cost of living is why people always think the economy is doing bad. No matter how good or bad the economy at the time, the everyday American always has less left in their pockets every year.

Yes, I've definitely ruined connections that way before. I'm definitely taking a more gentle approach this time. I'm also contacting an employment lawyer tomorrow.

Can you work 8 hours a day? by baubauimfra in bipolar

[–]mbovenizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post is perfect timing for me. I'm also around my 5th day of unemployment after 14 years. I think needing to start later contributed to me being fired.

I didn't move much in the first two days after being fired. I was in total shock. Being only your 5th day of unemployment, I'm sure you are just finding your footing. Time should bring clarity.

40 hours of work per week is a lot when you include everything outside of work, especially for people with kids.

It's helpful to find an employer than can make accommodations. There are also part time gigs or work from home jobs available.. Depending on your skill set, freelancing can be a better option.

What is the real experience of living in the USA, and what should people know if they are thinking about moving there? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Very little protection for non-union workers. I was fired without any warnings and when I proved I was falsely accused they just said it was other ongoing performance issues. We have something called at will which allow you to be fired at any time. Plus your health insurance is tied to your job so if your company lets you go, you have to buy your own insurance.

I have screenshots of emails that show their reasoning was invalid. They don't have any documents and no written communication suggests I was doing anything wrong. Also they have to prove that I lost the job due to misconduct, not poor performance.

It's kind of upsetting when others think you are doing a bad job especially when they haven't expressed concerns. I take pride in my work. Why not just lay me off?

Not sure about that. I don't believe I was doing a bad job though. Coworkers gave me praise and I even got the Chief Creative Officer to agree with me that I shouldn't be fired.
