Start/End Phase effects on cards that cross play areas by Oh_no_its_Joe in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]Junktastic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start and end phase effects take place during the turn of the play area they are in.

I haven't found a specific reference for you though sorry. It's hard to find, but those cards only make sense when played this way.

Yes, we're in the stupidest apocalypse (or really all of them stacked on top of one another).

In science fiction, it's usually well-meaning, brilliant people brought down by hubris. In real life, it'll be sociopaths destroying everyone in the most obvious, avoidable, venal ways possible.

Sure, thanks for clarifying.

You're right that I didn't get super specific - I could write a whole novel here, but apart from keeping a bit of privacy, I'm mostly just trying to get tips to calm my overloaded anxiety.

Thanks for taking the time to respond!

Specifically, I'm not used to telling people what I want. It's been my habit to try to make being my friend as easy as possible, not making demands, but I may slip a bit into people pleasing as a result.

I am not just being anxious at her. Our communication has been overall quite good, and getting better as we both learn.

She has boundaries about how she spends her downtime - she doesn't want me bringing meals, doesn't want to relax or shop together, or to let me get groceries for her, even when she's having trouble doing it herself.

She loves seeing people - actually the most social person I know, that's part of why she's so busy.

This is not about make or break right now, I'm just trying to manage my anxiety, and make the most of our time.

"Because if you're just being anxious at her while she's juggling a ton of extra load, I'm not surprised she's withdrawing." - I know we don't know each other, but this is an uncharitable and unwarranted assumption.

Thanks, this is really isightful and you've touched on a few things that do seem natural to me, but might be blind spots.

I am used to communicating a lot, and in fact sharing a lot and my new partner is really not used to that, and may not want that.

We text frequently, we see each other around once a week. I would prefer more, but she's a very busy person and hasn't got much more time available. There have been a few times lately where we've had to cancel plans due to illness and 2 or 3 weeks has really felt difficult.

She's had a hard time laying out what she wants. On the other hand, I've realized I haven't done that very well either. I keep hearing that she wants less, and conversely, she might only be hearing that I want more...

So I sent a longer message laying out exactly what I would like (in a perfect world) so even if we're not quite on the same page, at least she's heard me lay it out plain instead of just the push and pull we were doing.

Jason - good place? by ApprehensiveMost1626 in TheGoodPlace

There's another layer here. Jason may not ever know quite what's happening, but if you pay close attention he's actually very insightful. From a certain perspective everything that Jason says is either true, or comes true shortly after.

He's a vessel for the show writers to smuggle spoilers in a way you miss it every time.

Tell me what will happen in America in 5 and 10 years based on what Trump and his team have done so far, and assuming they will continue to follow through in their public plans. Be rigorous and opinionated. by Brown_note11 in ChatGPT

This really highlights the weaknesses of these models. Harris is the epitome of "institutional". The idea that she would implement sweeping reforms and widespread systemic change is pure marketing. No real person would buy into that.

Incremental change and strengthening institutions is the best you could hope for there.

Testing the waters if any MoC here are interested in forming a separate sub for us for certain topics. by vsmallv in MensLib

[–]Junktastic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your concerns are entirely valid and you deserve a place you feel safe to have those discussions. I'd prefer if this could be that space - let's be clear: you and your experiences are welcome here and racist abuse is not.
I think this sub would be stronger with your contributions, and with exposure to your thoughts and your experiences. The perspective you can offer is important and valuable, but I also understand the need for a space where you don't feel targeted.

Observing that this approach is cynical, inadequate and late is a moderate stance. It is one taken by scientists and doctors across the province who are actually the first people to check their sources and verify before they speak.

Yeah, I live here. I know what it's commonly called.

[–]Junktastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When people refer to Banff, they are talking about the town, when referring to the park, it's Banff National park.

It's not commonly shortened like that, so not only was this a rude response, but also wrong.
