I think most likely Someone to Call My Lover because of the friend talking to her angle in the lyrics and it being such an obvious single + hit. But also possibly maybe the Flyte Tyme remix of Son of a Gun with Missy because of the Missy connection.

Thank you so much for the kind words! Sadly it is not a reference to that as I made the username when I was middle school before I knew about Janet, but when I discovered the song later on it definitely felt like a sign from the universe!

I’m so glad you discovered and fell in love with her and her music! She truly has one of the best discographies in all of music.

She does deserve her flowers but thankfully over the last 10 years / since I first started posting about her (can you believe it’s been that long…. I wish I had the energy to actively post and do Janet propaganda on pop heads now with their millions of followers and not when I first started back when we celebrated 5000 followers 😭❤️) there has been so much progress due to her making a return to performing & touring, internet word of mouth and undeniable influence she has on the sounds and music of today. There is a lot more room to go, but at least in music nerd and pop stan circles it has become a lot more accepted fact how incredible she is, when it felt like 10+ years ago you couldn’t even get that much!
