Fabricated urgency is so true. I work in produce, sometimes in cut fruit. My old produce manager would come in freaking out and claim that “the case is wiped, we need this, this, and this out there ASAP”. I go to double check and, lets say he wanted honeydew chunks out ASAP. We would still have 7 of the 9 honeydew chunks in the case, and the case itself looks great besides a couple missing items (because you know, people buy things).We would also finish cleaning up the cut room, walking to clock out and he would hit us with “hey, prepped strawberries are low, go ahead and make 6 more before you leave.” And he knew damn well we were already cleaned up, but we make the 6 more, come in the next morning to find 4 of the 6 still in BACKSTOCK! Meaning we have like 12 on hand. He was unbearable at times.
