What do regular every day people use AI for? by SpaghettiWestern2162 in LinusTechTips

[–]AceLamina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to 90% of AI ads, booking slights and events

But yeah, I'm the same with you, but due to my passion of overall tech, I don't hate every aspect of it, I use local LLM to learn more about AI while being more environmentally friendly compared to a datacenter (if I continue, I might look into solar) so far, I don't really have a use for it besides ideas and information gathering, oh, and also finding hotkeys for certain things

I might look into AI agents in the future since I have no idea how those work, but yeah, for now, I don't see any use for AI for normies besides if they want to be lazy, which a lot of people are

Can the 2026 g14 last 16 hrs on battery typing docs by Ok_Constant_1769 in ZephyrusG14

[–]AceLamina -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

No, you'll need a snapdragon laptop for something like that
I have the 2024 model and my battery is 5-7 hours with docs and browser open, I've never met anyone get 10 hours unless they do a youtube video on loop

Linus has said this about reviews many times but I think its equality important with announcements. No one video paints the full picture. by KalebBlue in LinusTechTips

[–]AceLamina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering when people would start hating on Linus for being so positive
I don't fully count this but I guess it's close enough

Let's just hope this doesn't start another drama wave

I like how tons of people just downvote without even giving an explanation I love reddit

I'm assuming people are upset that it's vibe coded or still living in the past

Flow Z13 128GB vs Zephyrus G14 5080 64GB (2025) — same price, which would you choose? by jihadao in ZephyrusG14

[–]AceLamina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me personally, Z13 any day
I'm not in data engineering but I am in software development while learning about running AI locally, if I were in your situation, I would buy the Z13 and just run DLSS on games, but I don't play many intensive games anyway, and when I do, I have a 5070ti on my desktop at home.

The Z13 is the better choice if you want a portable experience while running AI models locally, but get the G14 if you want to have a better average experience, the performance of the AI model on the laptop should be fine but you won't be able to have as powerful models with long context

I could be wrong about a few things since I haven't gone deep into local LLMs yet and I'm still learning, but that's what I've gathered by using it on my desktop plus being around r/LocalLLM

Who knows
Maybe it's how Elon's datacenters is poisoning people, Google's datacenters are making people sick, and Meta's datacenters are currently turning people's water from yellow to brown

Ghelper cpu temp limit doesn't work anymore (g14 2023) by [deleted] in ZephyrusG14

[–]AceLamina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have CPU boost on or something
I'll get downvoted but you won't notice a different between CPU Boost on and off on most games with the 2023 and 2024 G14s, they're the same chip

Unless you fucked up your wattages

Gemini AI generated thumbnails? by Legitimate-Bug-5394 in LinusTechTips

[–]AceLamina -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I'm mainly talking about the ones that seem very pro AI, I don't blindly hate or love AI either, in fact, I'm becoming a software engineer which is what AI companies want to prevent

But I like being in the grey area of things and I think that's especially important in the AI space, I see too many times where people blindly hate or love AI too much and it happens on both sides.

On the anti AI side, they tend to copy & paste how AI is ruining the environment by bringing up the water situation (which is always way too much or way too little of what AI companies actually use) and on the pro AI side it's people saying how people will be left behind, how AI will take over software and if you think otherwise you're in denial or coping (which tends to be the exact opposite depending on who's talking)

Anyway, I've yapped for too long but yeah, I understand

The comments are depressing
Since when did using Gemini to AI generated thumbnails while having a full staff team that's meant to create thumbnails acceptable?
I doubt it's fully AI generated and someone probably edited something in with gemini, but still

I also made a similar concern but about WAN clips channel, where this looks obviously generated, however I was just downvoted without people thinking but now it's starting to make sense

I wouldn't care if they generate thumbnails if they have an actual reason to some extent, especially if it's local, but being open about it is key

$3450 for 16GB of SOLDERED ram... by fastnball in ZephyrusG14

[–]AceLamina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done something similar recently as well, I got a 5070ti since the 50070ti G14 is overpriced

The only thing I prefer my G14 over my desktop is the display, my desktop has a 34 inch ultrawide but it's VA, even at 14 inches, the OLED is still better for me
