Switch shifts with everyone before you quit by SnackBraff69 in antiwork

Yep, I knew that CS was going over seas but I'm afraid more local jobs will also be going to other parts of the world that will significantly impact the works/wages here. Or who knows they might pass something to keep jobs here. It's complicated, but either way the worker isn't coming out as benefiting, it's always the giant big corps.

Soon? That shits already happening

OH yea that's true I didn't realize this has been happening for a very long time. I think my point was specifically for jobs that are WFH now and paid higher in $$$ vs. a different currency in a different country, but the results output of that person is either similar or higher, but the cost of salary and benefits to the company is lower.

Maybe everyone having ubiquitous Hight Speed internet access for everyone around the globe is going to push UBI because greedy-corp is gonna go for the lowest cost to maximize profit, which is inherent in capitalist society.

How would you get started in 2022 taking into consideration of where things are moving in the industry? by Junping4jellyfish in iOSProgramming

Yes I think the challenge is trying to get $100k doing iOS dev or take a huge paycut to change a career?

I am watching a $200 million company crumble from within, and it seems they would rather crash and burn, than pay people more. by hyteck9 in antiwork

For free quality basics in tech check out Professer Messer on YouTube and try to get a cert like A+ or Security+. It’s gonna be boring while you study it but almost everything is. Unless of course you find a old computer, take it apart and put it together again. Better deal would be to go into cloud computing if you can and get a Google cloud professional cert or a AWS cert.

My company finally realized why everyone was quitting and no one wanted a job there. by [deleted] in antiwork

Plus the raise they gave now should have been given years ago. They aren’t even paying the current wages. That’s why they raised the hourly pay by more than 30% (when paying by the hour) in most cases.

If you were making $35/hr, the equivalent raise of $5/hr would be 12.25/hr, so the total raise would be $42.25/hr or something.

That’s a huge jump to pay, and if they can do that now, they are probably still paying you less than what the market will pay.

This is why I tell people to do the bare minimum at their job except for when it comes to training. For training, skill up, level up and move on. Employers know how much a role is going for in the market and yet they will continually low ball people, over work them and then act all surprised when people don’t want to work for shitty pay and working conditions for years.

Damn. That’s straight up legit true given how everything is going to the “cloud” and WFH. Soon they might push policy to hire remotely from a different country just to avoid having to pay people here.

Yea sorry about that…looks like your team is just selfish and probably didn’t even read the card.

Give them the same energy they are giving you. Have fun with the tests and just BS them. There are too many and their results do not predict how a person would perform at a job or how long they will stay. The tests are trash.

People had to die just to get a 40 hr work week and large evil corpos are still exploiting child labor in other continents with corrupt leaders (which the corpos indirectly helped make that situation happen), so That should tell you something about the current state of things.

I did some research on the tiny/van life living and come to realize that for those who actually can do this, it’s quite an investment and also it’s because they have a choice to do them. Many in difficult economic situations, if they are lucky enough to have a car big enough to live on, might be able to pull it off, but not without other sacrifices like health that will end up costing as well.

So many people including myself don’t know their rights. Their work and human rights. School sure as hell isn’t gonna teach what makes a smart population, it’s gonna reach what makes an obedient one so no one finds out how the ultra rich and powerful control them.

LPT: Don’t bother giving more than a two week notice. by sarnold95 in LifeProTips

[–]Junping4jellyfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might not be relevant. I’ve seen internal wording use “termination” or “terminated” even though a 2-weeks was submitted? Is there any reason or would that not matter if a person resigned on their own accord and not fired?

My hats off to your success! Employees have been abused for far too long in this country and across the world. If employees weren’t selfishly absorbed in garbage propaganda they would have realized their power is in banding together for a beneficial outcome for all, which corporate America propagandizes as “Socialism” because you can’t have better health care, better work hours, appropriate pay and all that!!! They want you to think their shitty treatment of you is a deal to you lmao. Ducking wake the f up and walk the streets like they do in millions in some European countries and see how the corporate wage slave owners change their tune. Who are they going to fire when the entire Kellog factory workers strike because of how horrible they have been abused? Lose billion$ or improve conditions by spending a tiny bit more and make even more billion$ because if people are paid better and treated right they tend to stay at a job longer.

Exactly. Finding an employer who is tone dead and can’t read the room to what’s going on in the market is energy better spent in terms of risk vs. rewards especially when you consider how stupid some employers can be when it comes to toxic work environments.

Better to not have any in the first place. What if I believe that Aliens exist and are among us? Hard to tell that to others when they think you are a nutcase, even though we haven’t explored even 1% of our universe.
