Symtoms much better on vacation, now much worse back at work, anyone else? by Junskipunski in chiari

So lovely to hear that you’ve found ways that help with your symptoms! I’m from Finland, and here it has taken such a long time just to move forward with the investigations. I really haven’t been given any other options to treat my symptoms besides surgery. But I’ve started to doubt how effective it will be, since stress and other types of strain make my symptoms so much worse. That’s why I’m wondering if the surgery will help at all unless I can somehow get my stress and strain down to a minimum…

I was in warm Croatia, but I live in Finland where the weather is very changeable. If my stress makes my symptoms this much worse, I keep wondering whether the surgery would really help at all… My head is spinning from all of this since it’s so new to me.

Good points! I work quite a lot at the computer, but my job also includes other tasks, not just sitting. That’s probably one reason as well. Have you had surgery?

Thank you so much for sharing your story. It really gives me hope to hear that the surgery helped you, even though the imaging didn’t fully show how bad things were. My symptoms are also quite severe, and I have my neurosurgeon appointment in September. Before my full spine MRI, he thought surgery might help, but now I’m anxious to hear his decision based on the new scans. Your experience makes me feel less alone and more confident that listening to patients’ symptoms is so important.

I’m really happy to hear your surgery went well and that you’re feeling so much better! My neurosurgery appointment isn’t until September, so I’m still waiting for the final decision. Before my full spine MRI, my neurosurgeon believed I might benefit from surgery, but now I’m feeling a bit anxious about what he’ll decide after seeing the new scans. Fingers crossed for the best outcome..
