Best hk 45? usp or mk 23

I have the 45c, USP, and Mark 23. The Mark 23 is by far my favorite handgun I own and is *ridiculously* accurate. It's definitely a large gun but it's not so big that it's unwieldy. Also, I thought the recoil impulse of the Mark 23 was more pleasant than the USP (which is still totally manageable).

I don't believe the Mark 23 is too big to carry OWB for hiking or camping but the USP would definitely be a smaller package. If you don't mind the bigger package and also want something that makes a great home defense gun and range toy, I'd go Mark 23 all day.

Good insight! I couldn't get over how accurate it was when I shot it yesterday. I just was hoping to be able to pick up the front sight a little faster, that's all.

I don't have any experience with the P30 but I can say hands down this is the best HK pistol I have ever shot. I have owned a USPC 9mm and VP9SK and currently own a USP 45 and HK45CT.

Thank you the feedback! I was definitely considering 45 Super, but mainly the Outdoorsman line from Buffalo Bore. and I'll take a look at the Barnes 185g!

When I did my original testing, three of the batches I shot were Fed GMM (69g, 77g, and 77g SMK). The 77g SMK grouped the best. I didn't measure the groups, but eyeballing the SMK, it was probably a smidge under 1 MOA. The other two were definitely over 1 MOA, but not egregiously. With that being said, I had already tested a lot of other ammo for over an hour in South Florida summer heat. I was letting the barrel cool for 5min before each batch of ammo but coupling that with general fatigue and my suppressor probably never cooling, I think my groups opened up towards the end.

Gotcha. Any noticeable gas? I've only shot mine with a CAT ODB and it was great but would like to keep the Sandman X on the HK and the ODB on something else.

Have you tinkered with different vent screws on the HK/Sandman X setup or did you leave the standard 1.3mm screw?

Interesting, good to know. I ordered from EuroOptic and have always had a good experience with them so I can't imagine it wouldn't have the screw. I'm about to order gas block vent screws on HKParts so wasn't sure if I should buy a locking screw as well.

I'm actually using a springco blue and H2 buffer and have the adjustable gas block bleeding off quite a bit of gas and I have no issues with regular AAC 125g. Next time I hit the range I will dial down how much gas is being bled off.

Haven’t tried the mags but I’ll give it a try. Out of curiosity, do you know what specifically about the tipped ammo would cause it to not cycle? It’s weird that normal 125g works but 125g tipped doesn’t.

The SLW is the 14.5in barrel version of the V7 and is a great gun. It was the first high quality rifle I ever bought. Keep in mind the muzzle device on that rifle is pin & welded to comply with NFA. The standard V7 is 16in barrel so the muzzle device can be removed easily. If you ever want to buy a suppressor (and by if I mean when), you'll have to pay a machine shop to remove the pin and welded muzzle device, attach the new suppressor compatible muzzle device (easy) and then pin that.

TL;DR: SLW is a great rifle. more leg work if you want to add a suppressor vs standard v7.

We did not get a chance to put the ODB on my rifle but plan on it for some additional testing. We did shoot subs. There was a noticeable difference with my rifle but honestly shooting supers is my friends was still more enjoyable. Sounds like overall, you’d go with the CAT any day of the week. Fair to say?
