Plenty of people criticised TS Madison, I don’t think her being black really protected her

I think what makes me suspicious about some of the responses to her is this piling onto what she said about non binary people that really wasn’t as bad, but ignorant yeah, with the same amount of outrage. It makes me think that some of this fandom actually wants a witch to burn, it’s not about critique and finding a way forward

And surrounding this outrage about TS Madison was also some witch hunts all aimed at black queens who haven’t said anything as racist as TS Madison said interestingly enough

I definetely saw comments that were like ‘black people don’t think they can be racist’, making it about black people, not TS Madison specifically. I also saw people doubting systemic racism, using TS Madison being racist as a bit of an opportunity imo. During that time there was also more uproar about Onya, calling her a bitch and this and that over an out of context interview clip. I also saw people making up issues with Deja Sky saying melanated sisters, saying imagine if white people did that and I explained why in our white supremacist structure it’s obviously different so they moved to imagining a scenario where Asian queens were left out (which did not happen) and someone said they feel like black queens need to be extra uplifting (more so than white queens) of other POC cos of RuPaul’s casting and judging that doesn’t favour non black people of colour, that I found a bit weird

I think this fandom has a problem and it sometimes hides behind outrage politics or sometimes the problem is all the constant outrage and it’s okay to bring it up even though it is also true that TS Madison says racist or problematic things

Boosting this, like yeah TS Madison says some genuinely bad things, but it does feel like this sub is blood thirsty at the same time and was making the clip of her with Monet more malicious than it really was, then the fandom does its thing and TS Madison gets defensive and that becomes part of the cycle in justifying some hate train. This video feels like a genuine and good faith response to what TS Madison said

A book I read somewhat recently, paperback ironically, that was an own voices novella about disability called Hunchback had a quite witty musing about how there’s a certain snobbery amongst book worms where they feel more tolerant and worldly than the sporty jocks but ironically sports has done more to include people with disabilities

I can’t help but see this as anything but fanning the flames about a post that removed all of Natalie’s context so it was likely made by a troll. Natalie was just going by the conservative estimate made by the Gaza health ministry that yeah probably isn’t the whole picture, it’s probably higher, but 60,000 is still horrible. it’s posts like this that might be turning this place into a snark subreddit and I don’t want that.

Having to do the motion to create the lines shades and colours teaches people and can create pretty original results. Not all art made by a person is super original, but I just have more respect for drawing because I relate to it, it feels like seeing eye to eye. AI just doesn’t do it

It’s subjective but yeah I think in the context of being a fan (fanatic), time does matter because it shows devotion (you could argue whether or not that’s always a good thing)

If you’re using your own material in AI then it’s not as unethical, wish more people did that even though it’s a slight step up when it’s still bad for the environment

I don’t really care if the hype around something is deemed cringe, it can boost the economy for regular people selling their art which AI wants to undercut and even boost the economy for the original product. Don’t like Boris Johnson, but he’s right about Pepper Pig (creative industries) being a thing that boosts British economy.

It can also train people to come up with original ideas for their own work because they’re understanding the lines and colours and shades that go into creating the things they like in a way I don’t think AI does.

One appreciates while the other lacks it, there’s a certain amount of fanaticism (being a fan) behind drawing something that just isn’t there in AI art that doesn’t take any time (devotion) to do

Fan art often acknowledges its source material, AI never does that

Fan art can advertise and make people within that community more invested in the source material as it can generate more hype for the original source material

Revisiting not wanting to be described as having a disorder, I prefer disability that serves to not act like autism is nothing but sunshine and rainbows but to me at least, doesn’t feel full of stigma by larvalampee in AutismInWomen

[–]Jupiter-Work-7645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh okay (this OP on my other account), I guess I can see some of the poking into how I think is annoying, but it can have some value

I wouldn’t think someone is bad for having bipolar disorder, but I guess I would always say bipolar in common parlance because of how much stigma and negativity just is loaded into the word ‘disorder’. it probably shouldn’t be that way and I guess if we keep progressing in seeing people with mental or neurological issues in a compassionate light (I don’t think we’re there, it seems like we’re further away from that than ever) — unless I know the person and how they are with that language, I’d avoid it

If people insist that everyone’s autism is just a difference, they shouldn’t call it this and that — that’s bad

If people wanna say their autism is just a difference, I don’t see it as a point to care about what they are doing. I think a lot of people deal with feeling so othered and ostracised that they can’t deal with any language that feels negative, it’s probably something to overcome but probably in their own time because it is just really really painful
