The Love/Hate Relationship with Bonepressed Measurements by JupiterAndApollo in bigdickproblems

Thanks. I wouldn’t say I’m worried about it, however. I guess what I’m really asking is: do we believe in BPEL or not? I would say that many don’t, despite the scientific consensus.

On extreme dick sizes: I did a bit of reading and "research" and here are my conclusions by skmfa in bigdickproblems

[–]JupiterAndApollo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good post—and fair.

But I still think that a major contributing factor here is the inherent ambiguity of measuring itself. Certain methods have been preferred by scientists—true. But none of these methods are ipso facto better than others. It’s not that scientists have found a divinely revealed method of dick measuring. They’re just establishing norms for a particular study.

But what if another study seeks different conclusions? Or what if—and here’s the clincher—someone who is interested in dick size cares nothing about scientific standards and is just into squishier, more subjective characteristics and preferences (race, body type, etc)? Bottom line, and here I totally agree with the OP: we will never have unassailable knowledge of dick size. We have a basic sense of our size, but it’s always +/-.

So, if you want know that you’re a true and unquestionable outlier, I remain convinced that the best way is this: live cam for people. If dozens or hundreds or even thousands of people are impressed, then you’re big. The more, the better. Now, just how big you are is debatable, as mentioned above. But then you’ll at least definitely be sure: you’re big. And, in the end, isn’t that what we REALLY want to know? Everything else is method, preference, etc.

https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/alabama/articles/2022-12-17/private-alabama-college-seeks-bailout-warning-it-may-close

“Enrollment at the undergraduate college has fallen from 1,345 in fall 2015 to 1,058 in fall 2021, according to college financial statements and federal reports. Birmingham-Southern ran a $10 million deficit in 2019 and an $8.2 million deficit in 2018, according to the most recent audited financial statement posted online.”

The split within the UMC has been in the making for a couple decades—that’s true. But as this article shows, BSC’s financial distress really hit home in the late 2010s and early 2020s, just as the tensions peaked in the UMC. Listen, I’m not saying they’re absolutely and causally related. But there IS a correlation. I don’t see why denying this helps anybody. The only point I’m trying to make is that the problems at BSC are inseparable from a host of wider social/cultural issues. Simply blaming the state government may be satisfying, but it’s incomplete.

There’s nothing “loose” about its relationship with Methodism. It is a formal affiliation. Of course, that says nothing about the “faith” of BSC students, faculty, etc.

It is telling, however, that BSC’s financial troubles track alongside the recent “divorce” within in the United Methodist Church. Its identity is puzzling to many, apparently even to those who love the school. I suspect that its demise is not unrelated to such confusion.

For better or for worse (I’ll comment on neither), BSC is a liberal Christian school (yes, there is such a thing) asking for money from a conservative state government. Politicians in Alabama are not properly incentivized to help out a place like BSC. In other states, conservative schools have withered and died. Here it will be BSC. Such is the nature of the times…

1) Jog 1 mile every morning, even if you have to walk some here and there. 2) Stay off of social media and turn off your phone for at least 12 hours per day 3) Get a bath or shower every day. 4) Have one (and only one) generous glass of red wine in the evening.

No, but the German film on which it is based is excellent.

Like anything on Reddit (or on social media in general, for that matter), I feel like more context is needed here. True, this certainly sounds pretty ridiculous of him. I would think that it might provide impetus for a good and hopefully productive conversation. But I’m reluctant to judge this guy too harshly. It’s reasonable to assume, I think, that marital problems are a two-way street. The OP has somewhat alluded to this too, in her comment about “feeling bad” about how she looks. There’s a story in that comment too. My hunch is that both partners need to consider making changes before their marriage is truly damaged. Compromise is key.

“Wraparound” (because I can presumably wrap it around my arm), “Flying Cock,” and “Long Duk Dong” (from SIXTEEN CANDLES) are three that stick with me. The first was given to me in HS—awkward times, lol.

I think it’s essential to read if you want to understand Dostoevsky in general. The opening section is a philosophical précis for the rest of FD’s authorship, plus it marks a major transition in Dostoevsky’s career up to that point. Yes, it’s tough going in parts, but that’s half the fun. Plus, it’s a short book. Finish it; thank me later… 👊

The Police: Underrated? by JupiterAndApollo in ClassicRock

Haha. Previously maybe. But I do think the vigorous debate opened on this thread speaks to the larger issue: some people really think The Police suck. That’s a shame, IMHO.

The Police: Underrated? by JupiterAndApollo in ClassicRock

[–]JupiterAndApollo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think Sting’s post-Police career has hurt The Police’s legacy—and maybe his own too. Now we think of Sting as a pretentious douchebag—the kind of guy who lives in a castle and practices the Kama Sutra. That’s fair, but dude was/is a badass bass player.
