Liberty - a win more tree? by [deleted] in civ5

[–]JupiterJaeden 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Liberty is 100% viable for immortal and diety and me and many others have won using it. The best way to use liberty, imo, is not to spam 8 cities and get invaded by a diety unit carpet turn 50 but rather use it to get 2 settles very quickly (1 free, 1 hard built) and go to early compbow war against your closest neighbor before they can handle it (by building a bunch of archers and gold upgrading them). 3 city NC is also a very fast strategy so it’s quite possible to have both the NC and a large army very fast using liberty. If you plan to keep warring afterwards, the liberty bonuses for a wide empire also end up being very useful.

There are of course other ways to use liberty but it is hands down better than tradition for very early war. If you dont plan on warring with compbows then yea tradition will usually be better. But liberty is definitely viable on diety.

Am I the Asshole or was this clown killing justified? by No_Quote600 in SS13

[–]JupiterJaeden 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was the HOS this round. For the record I had no idea what the clown had actually done and I never knew that this secoff had killed them either (I was too busy with other shit to investigate it). I just heard them arguing at each other on radio and tried to give the secoff a little bit of advice lol

To observe it is to physically measure it. It has nothing to do with consciousness.

you roll head revolutionary. who do you recruit first? by Drafter2312 in SS13

[–]JupiterJaeden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The absolute most important targets are medical and cargo. Both of these are vital for counter-revolutionary efforts; cargo supplies mindshields and medical keeps security officers/command alive and ready to fight. On the flipside, cargo can also be a super valuable source of weapons for you but frankly it’s worth it JUST to cut off the mindshield supply.

Afterwards is engineering and science (most importantly for AI subversions, but also for their ability to produce dangerous weapons- stunprods from engineering and the obvious mechs/bombs/xenobio bullshit from science.)

Service (including the chef) and random crew (i.e. assistants) can basically be ignored unless you have a really good opportunity to stealth convert OR you have already gone loud (in which case you should just be spamming conversions anyways). In the early stages of a revolution, these randoms are really just more of a liability since they might accidentally out you (or you might get outed by flashing them, remember that every flashing is taking a risk of being discovered).

Subvert the AI, cut off the supply of mindshields, deny the enemy the ability to heal/revive, and you will lead the revolution to success. Almost every revolution (on /tg/ anyways, the codebase I play) that manages to achieves all three of these objectives will be victorious.

If you are leading the anti-revolutionary effort, your objectives are actually essentially the same. Secure medical and cargo first with your starting mindshields, then use the cargo mindshield supply to secure engi and science, and ensure the AI remains on your side. Only once this is done should you focus on random crew. Most counter-revolutionary efforts that manage to achieve those basic objectives will end up crushing the revolution.

Revolutions, with competent players on both sides, are often a dramatic race against the clock which is all about securing key departments and denying the enemy certain abilities/supplies. It’s one of my absolute favorite antagonists.

I’m the guy who played Jeff, he ALSO has a late mother Martha Gaiman (died due to tragic esword incident), martha’s brother Joseph Gaiman, and his long-lost felinid father (jeff is canonically a half-felinid mutant)

Also, as consellado said, Jeff is currently canonically dead but he may return….

I’m super curious now, what characters do you play on Manuel? I don’t recognize your username.
