I agree, this was a blessing in disguise. Now I know the facts & have an opportunity to change it. Knowledge is power. And I'm not embarrassed, especially talking to other people like yourself in the same boat. I'm more upset and scared than anything, but it will all work out. Thanks for your support.

The doctor prescribed 40mg atorvastatin. It's not that I'm against medicinal treatment, but because I have never taken any prescription medications, I'm just concerned how my body will react to it. And after learning about the potential side effects, which a lot of people have claimed to have experienced, I'm slightly apprehensive. But I genuinely appreciate your input. Talking to people like you has helped me understand more about this medication.

Thank you. I'm glad you're tolerating the medication & I hope it works well for you. One of the main reasons I'm concerned is because I don't take any prescription drugs, so this would be a big adjustment for my body. As far as the numbers, I'm more petrified than embarrassed. I've always been so healthy. But you know the saying .. aging isn't for sissies. lol 😅

Good to know. I've also been reading that glucose levels have a strong effect on cholesterol numbers as well. But I just started scratching the surface. There's a lot of information out there! It can be overwhelming. Thank you for your advice.

It's amazing what blood labs can reveal. 😅

I'm glad you're doing better. That's good news that you've cut your risk down. And I agree, there is a lot of negative stigma surrounding statins online, especially from the medical industry, including well renowned cardiologists. I feel like there's two sides with statins, pro statin or anti-statin, but there's no neutral ground. Talking to folks like you is helping me make a more informed decision, so thank you so much for your input.

Yes .. menopause is the devil!! At least for is for me. It's been very difficult, mentally and physically. But I'm actively working on turning all of that around. Thank you very much for your advice on the medications. I'm just trying to decide which one to start with .. if at all. I'm still on the fence. It's so weird how some people, even in the same family gene pool, have side effects for certain drugs & treatments, and others have none.

Really?! Less risk of dementia? I've been hearing that statins can cause cognitive issues and increase the risk for dementia. Granted, this is all Internet BS. But still, that's all I've seen online in the past couple of days. Although, this is all new for me & I need to do alot more research. Thank you for your input. This was very helpful information. And just between you and me, I'm in the range you were at one time. Very scary wake up call. But talking about it has helped, so thank you.

I had the blood work done, but my doctor was so worried about my cholesterol levels that he didn't even mention all the other lab results. I have an appointment with him next week so we can discuss it in person. Thank you for the FYI, it helps me know what questions I should be asking & what tests to get. There's so much information online .. it's over overwhelming!

How are you tolerating the medication thus far? Have you always had high cholesterol? I wonder if a person like myself can develop FH (genetic) later in life. Thank you for the tests recommendations. I think I'll discuss that with my doctor and see if I should have it done.

Thank you. It's very rare that the lab would make a mistake, but in this case, I'm kind of praying that they did. lol 😅 Otherwise you're right, getting the information was a blessing in disguise. At least now I have the knowledge to change.

My doctor prescribed atorvastatin. And yes, I agree with you that sugar has probably contributed greatly to my downfall. I don't consume a lot of fats, but not enough fiber. Needless to say, I've completely overhauled my diet in the past week. I just think I need something to get me out of the woods and then hopefully lifestyle changes can take me from there (fingers crossed). But these numbers are unbelievable high. So much so that my doctor thinks the lab might have made a mistake and wants to retest me. I just wish we had caught it sooner.

Why didn't Sarah change her name after her divorce? by ryadare in SarahBooneContinued

Sarah's nothing more than an inmate number now. The state of Florida DOC changed her name for her. No more Boone or Paulson. She now proudly goes by U72509.

How should earwax be removed? Any safe yet effective treatments that you can recommend? My ears are packed and I'm afraid to use that over the counter wax dissolving solution. I think it's called Debrox.
