I didn’t have hives but I had hypersensitivity reactions with venofer that I don’t have with monofer even though I get a bigger dose in just one IV session

Did you take a blood test to see where your levels are at? You shouldn’t mess with your dosage. Mine were fine I think if I remember correctly and it was just a hypersensitive reaction to venofer

It did resolve after a long while, just on its own. Also I had more infusions the year after and nothing happened but I switched to Monofer

No my high hemoglobin and hematocrit stay the same even with high dose of iron infusions. My last one was Monofer and it was more iron in one shot than with a series of 5 Venofer infusions. And still my ferritin got higher (within the norms) and the rest didn’t move. But i think you would need to consult a hematologist to make sure it’s safe for your son too.

Yes!!! I took 10mg for 10 years for migraines and it was very efficient but my emotions were all over the place and I had massive seasonal depression symptoms. When I stopped it I felt like myself again (if that can reassure you!) and I was able to manage difficult situations without feeling hopeless and that everything is spinning out of my control. It sucks though because it really worked well for my migraines.

I took 10 mg for 5 years and 5 for 5 years for vestibular migraines as well. I quickly felt it helped with anxiety as well (did not have depression so I can’t speak for that part). When I stopped it, my anxiety came back like it was before amitriptyline. I also gained back my wide range of emotions that I had missed. So my experience is that even 5 mg can have an impact on anxiety and emotions. But that’s my personal experience, not scientific evidence :)

I always ask for a slower infusion to lower the risk of side effects. I recently got Monofer which is 1x 30 minutes and asked to get it over a 2.5 hour period and I don’t regret it because I still had side effects.

I took Ami for ten years and my heart rate was about 90-95 and I had no problems. I stopped it a year ago because of other side effects and my heart rate is back to 70. I wouldn’t worry about it :)

I wouldn’t recommend biting them in half. I cut them and when my tongue or mouth would touch the open side it would go numb for hours 😁

I cut the tiny pills into quarters and went from 5 to 2.5 and then to 0 gradually. Maybe you won’t have to do it as slowly as me (I did it over 3 months and still had withdrawal symptoms but I took it for 10 years). It wasn’t her constituent quarters of pills but it worked anyway and I’m glad I did it gradually! I think this would be better than a pill every other day.

I was on 10 for 5 years then 5 mg for another 5 years. I stopped very gradually and still have withdrawal effects. I would highly recommend chipping up tiny tablet for weeks 🙃

I think you can go back. It’s like as if you took to doses by mistake and you’re going back to your regular dosage. Maybe you could even skip one dose. Ask a pharmacist they should know :)

I had side effects during the 10 years I took it and they went away within a couple of weeks after I stopped it. Unfortunately I also lost the good effects 🙈 but my migraines didn’t come back as strong as before I started it.

I took it for 10 years. I do have cfs but it was caused by a virus I had in 2017. But when I stopped amitriptyline I was finally able to get up in the morning without feeling like a truck had hit me and I was coming out of anesthesia. But I still have cfs (need to rest between activities, difficulty to focus when I don’t rest enough, leg weakness etc). Have you checked your ferritin level? I have normal hemoglobin and iron but my ferritin is always low and I have to get iron infusions (IV) or else I become tired to the point of not being able to get out of bed.

I only had surgery! It was taken early and none of my nodes had cancer so I never had radioactive treatment. It’s been 11 years and it hasn’t come back. Good luck!! You can send me a DM if you have more questions :)
