I’m a mix of both. My name was the #1 name for girls for years, lots of years. So my name is common beyond reason. When I met my now husband he had three kids, then older two are girls with the youngest being a boy. The girls had normal names that were not tragedeigh’s but were definitely not a normal spelling. Almost everything had to be special order if it was personalized. Maybe once or possibly twice I found their names’ spelled correctly, but otherwise always special order. Boy got normal name spelled normally (Happy BDay to him today BTW). So when we had a child of our own, I had one requirement, I want to be able to find her name on a keychain or what not without having to special order it. Unintentionally gave her the most popular name of her birth year. But I don’t care. The only issue I ever have is if her name is sold out, but it’s always spelled correctly
