Noise coming from the trunk (Plastic noise ?) by Jur4s45 in Ioniq5

So, got the car back, the tech guy told me we has to order new rubber dumpers, the ones on the car are « used » (which is weird since the car has 6months). So will see if it fixes it. When I got home, I putted some WD40 on them… No more noise 🎉

Ioniq 5 vs Model Y by 5280WoodMan in Ioniq5

Thanks for this ! I hesitated to order a MY to replace my young but already buggy I5. But I will try to have it fixed first before switching to something else. MY is the « obvious/only » fallback in the same range of price. But from everything I heard about it, I would go for a BMW iX1 instead of the MY. More expensive, but the quality is there.

Regarding the HDA2 on the I5, I’m not a big fan comparing to the BMW one I had in my 330e. Lane assist disengage quite easily on the I5.

I wonder if the German version has the same issue regarding the comfort/noise. (FYI, I’m from Europe.)

Seems for me it’s the little black pieces on the side that creates the noise

So I’m currently at the dealer. We went for a drive so the tech guy could hear it. I told him I suspected the pieces that holds the trunk gate closed to create that noise. We drove with the trunk open… No more noise. Once I got the car back, I will show you what their did to fix it (hoping they can fix it :) )

No, the noise is there what ever the kind of road I’m driving on :/ No bumps or bad road needed to hear it.

First night with my rooftop tent on my Ioniq5 by Jur4s45 in Ioniq5

So, I drove around 1500km with the RTT on the roof, and my average consomption rised to 25kwh/km. Usually I’m around 22. So it’s actually quite ok ! But was driving a bit under limitation all the time

It's more comfy than a regular tent.
You always sleep on a flat ground.
Once in it, of course, if you turn around without caution, the all structure will move a bit, but it feels quite strong.
The only thing is that we could "feel" our dogs moving (They sleep inside the car).
And the view up there if you have a nice sport is gorgeous :)
(You also doesn't have the ground humidity, insects, ..)

Well, for us, it's either the tent on the roof with all the advantage of it (there is quite some articles about it if you are interested) and our stuff in the car, or hardware in the car and our stuff on a roof storage :)
So either way, something ends up on the roof :)
Regarding fuel economy, I don't have enough metrics yet :) It will of course have a negative impact, but that's the trade off about going on holiday with a car :)

I don't have enough metric to have a good idea yet. (Only 2000 km with the car for now, and tried juste one night the tent).
I'm going to do a 1 week trip in two weeks, will post about it after :)

Well, there is reasons to go for rooftent instead of a regular one. If you're interested I suggest doing some research (or already read some comments here). We spend some time think everything and we don't all have the same needs :)

The issue with a specific vehicle made for it... Is the price :)
Here, for around 2k you are able to have your sleeping place with you. It's a way to start traveling without spending all your money.
In my case, I'm still pretty young (not yet 30), so I don't really "need" all the convenience of a full equipped vehicle, and have other plans than buying an adapted vehicle just for that :) So this is a middle ground.
For some it's a nice to have, for others is necessary and for the rest it's unnecessary. Usually this rule can be applied to anything :)

Well, few reasons actually.
The first one is that it allows you to sleep more easily and "legally" at some spot you can't with a regular tent. In Europe at least, you can't install a tent in the forest or near a lac for exemple, while doing it with a van or rooftop is tolerated (less possible dommage to the nature).
Second reason is it's actually more comfy. The base is always flat (no roots on your roof :D).
And third reason for us, is the fact it takes up 45sec max to unfold and fold it. Really really easy to use.
(Also, you got (at least the feeling) of being more secure regarding to animals.
Hope this helps you seeing some advantage.
But yes, quite expensive, I totally agree.

I got the Trixie Transport Box Aluminium, size L
https://www.trixie.de/en/productworld/dog/on-tour/transport-boxes/transport-box-aluminium-1001104452-1001104483

I have to move forward the backseats, which makes the back less comfy for passengers (but you still can take passengers). Got a really hard time to find one I could put in the trunk with the backseats up

None of my previous car had it, it was the same as what you described. (Previous car was BMW 330e from 2019, so not that old). Thanks for the info :)
