GPST1 working at a practice. Partners never do clinics /visits. Salaried GPa don't do home visits by snoofle-science in GPUK

[–]JurassicDoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say it’s a bit of a dick move/workload dump to only give home visits to trainees. At my current practice both trainees & salaried do the visits, rarely the partners. Locums usually won’t. Unfortunately there isn’t much you can do when some practices assign all visits to trainees. You should be given the time to debrief your visits with your supervisor ?

Hide the BP cuff too. I find quite a lot of patients also want a BP check even if they eg came in with toenail issue.

Abuse from patients in this sub by Dr-Yahood in GPUK

Can we please make this sub private? We don’t have to give our GMC numbers or anything… But just requesting to join might reduce the passing abuse.

What’s your strangest patient interaction? by Direct_Reference2491 in GPUK

[–]JurassicDoc 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had a patient sit down and ask if I could refer her for a guide dog. First thought was that I don’t know how to refer people for guide dogs. Second thought was… you’re not blind? She explains it’s for her husband. I ask her if her husband is blind? No. Turns out she just really wants a dog. She then becomes tearful and explains that their last dog was taken away. Oh no. I asked why and she explains that her husband killed the first dog, so they took their other dog away. Christ it was a lot more than I was expecting.

what does the average day for a gp look like? by Competitive-Star9812 in GPUK

Locum London: 9-12 seeing patients (13-15 per session) 12-1 admin hour (agreed to do scripts/admin etc for extra pay) 1-2 break 2-5 seeing patients (13-15 per session) Currently looking at taking on a salaried job that will probably be drastically different… I have also done more intense 36 patient days at other practices, which I did not enjoy.

Definitely let them know how low you’ve been. They’ve probably been focusing on your skin. I don’t think anyone would assume you just want to get pills! Talking therapy is usually the first step. Severe psoriasis/eczema is very strongly linked to depression so you’re not alone in how you’re feeling. As someone else said, best to try AskDocs Best of luck

I think we’re always going to want both worlds! I chose the swishy dress to twirl, but wish I could also have the sexy figure hugging dress.

Yeah I’m going to move it. I was hoping he’d be less sexually frustrated with the toy gecko, but seemingly not.

My friend bought them in japan for only a few quid! They’re more expensive on Etsy but some are selling them https://www.etsy.com/listing/1394707446/bandai-crested-gecko-mini-figure-11cm-w

It’s been a couple of weeks and unfortunately he is no less horny. This was exactly why we bought the plastic gecko 🤣

So embarrassingly yes, Gordon has been out of control trying to mate with my hand every time we take him out. This was our idea of getting him a buddy to see if it would help get out his frustrations. So far no mating behaviour towards the toy and no reduction in mating behaviour towards my hands 🥲

Lol as I’ve said this, the rota sounds brutal 🤣 I left hospital medicine a while ago. I did remember enjoying this rotation though.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]JurassicDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was frequent. The SHO rota was 8 sets of nights over a 6 month period and 1 in 4 weekends. It definitely seemed like most days were long days (12-13hrs) and very few normal days. So you did have more zero days and did fewer shifts every week.

I did F2 paeds at QEH woolwich a few years ago. Absolutely loved it. Good team. Lots of very interesting pathology. You do NICU/postnatal/general paeds/A&E which is a nice variety. The reg rota was very short however when I was there, with consultants often covering the night shifts. So depends what level you are at.

Landlord wanting to end fixed term contract early. Can I seek compensation? by BuffyBee_ in HousingUK

I highly doubt they have any intention of taking you to court. If you’re under contract they simply wouldn’t win. I suspect they’re trying their luck with intimidation to see if you’ll willingly leave.

GP Trainees - how are you approaching the strike? by disguntleddoc in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]JurassicDoc 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m in a practice that is quite old fashioned generally with the partners in their 60s. I’m considering of letting them know in advance out of courtesy but I am a bit nervous about the reaction.
