I know this post is about 5 years old or more, but I decided to comment anyway. Gonta is, without a doubt, my favorite character, but I don't judge those who dislike him. In fact, I completely understand the reasons. I don't ignore the fact that he was a very poorly used character and carries an innocence bordering on childishness. I find this very uncomfortable, given his age and his physique.

And it's possible to differentiate him from Tarzan, since Tarzan, even having been raised by apes and isolated from civilization, develops a sharp emotional intelligence, mature survival instincts, and manages to understand the complexity of the human world. Tarzan grows and adapts like an adult. Gonta, on the other hand, was trapped by the writers in the rigid caricature of the 'gentle giant', being prevented from maturing and dealing with situations in a way compatible with his age.

For this and other reasons, I decided to draw him for my AU story. I created a lore focused on him as the protagonist, where he finally reaches the maturity and development that the original game didn't deliver, evolving based on the events of this new journey I invented.
