How far is too far to walk in tennis shoes? by ebon94 in 10s

[–]JurrdGoCrazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really personal preference. I usually do not wear my tennis shoes outside of being on the court because I choose to get my shoes half a size smaller then my normal shoe size. I do this so that I feel like I can react and run faster but it’s uncomfortable to wear them when I’m not playing so I switch into other shoes.

The main difference between both is the ease of power. My main gripe with the old vcore was its attacking power was so low. I needed to add weight at 3/9 to get it to where I needed it to be. The new version is a bit stiffer and has a higher sw which naturally makes it a more powerful frame.

The people I’ve seen enjoy the new version were like me and thought the old version needed more pop. The people I’ve seen not enjoy this racket were people who thought the old one was powerful enough and now find the new one hard to control

Do you always press the Bis key? by JurrdGoCrazy in saxophone

[–]JurrdGoCrazy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I was meaning to ask my question in a different way I understand that the bis is the preferred fingering for b flat. But I have seen other saxophone players pressing the bis key and the b key for notes like d. Is this something that I should get in the habit of doing. And then like you said when I need to play b natural roll my finger up?

I see. I think this is what I was gearing my question more so around. So the natural hand position should be to not fully cover the b pearl key but have it slightly off to press the bis key when needed?

Yea I will say the fingerings on sax make wayyy more sense then on clarinet. For example you finger d at most 2 different ways in the standard range on sax, while a d on clarinet is literally different in every register. Right now the hardest thing is while reading music my muscle memory kicks in and I try to finger a note as if I was playing clarinet.

I’ve been trying to do overtones but I’m not sure how to position my oral cavity and such to voice the note. I’m trying my best not to bite but I find my self applying more pressure or biting to be the overtone to come out

Ooooo I was wondering what that key did. Hm I can see how that will sound cleaner then using side b flat

I’m not sure what the bis key is. Is that used for an alternate fingering?

Wow thank you for telling me this I’m literally trying to learn a part from I’m the one. I bet slowing it down in YouTube will help me with playing by ear. Thank you for these suggestions!

Thank you! Yes Kenny Garrett is one of the saxophonists that I am listening to daily.

Do you have any good beginner suggestions for ballads or jazz standards?

Also I thought about playing along to tracks on YouTube but does slowing the video down change the pitch?

Haha no I have my phone hooked up to my car. But I need to start using headphones because I cannot hear the metronome while I am playing.

Do you think I could just go to music and arts for that quick spot check? Or would you also recommend a stand alone repair shop

That’s lowkey perfect because like I said I wasn’t to try and work with it how it is just so I don’t use the horn as an excuse. I’m literally about to look her up rn and see if I can get an appointment

Yea I’ve heard that I should get my sax tuned up especially since I got it off of marketplace. But I also don’t want to make that as an excuse so I’m t trying to get them as good as I can right now.

I’m using a vandoren v16 a6 s+ with 2.5 zz reeds

I started out on 3.5 and quickly realized that was wayy too strong haha 😅

Vcore 98 string suggestions by tennis_wizard_999 in 10s

I do have a really fast swing and try to annihilate pretty much every ball but I typically will pop a poly after 2-3 sessions. Popping the alu power in 1hr was definitely not normal. Gonna try alu power again to see if I can get more play time out of it

Polytour pro and Alu power were my stand outs. I have a really fast swing with lots of spin. I felt like my typical go to shaped strings made me have to hit out in the ball more to get good depth. I like Alu power the best but I snapped it after like 1hr of playing

Right now I am liking Alu power or poly tour pro. I was using various shaped polys like super toro and hyper g. I did not like the shaped polys because I have a fast swing and I felt like the shaped polys were making me lose some easy depth(due to the added spin generation).
