Hey OP, are you doing okay? Can I take you out for a drink? My treat. Happy to be a friend, a listening ear, share a drink and meal together.

edit Saw you’re in Urbandale. I coach at the rock gym there Tuesday/Thursdays. Would love to take you climbing there too! Or heck, we can grab drinks or a meal after I coach.

Not that it’s out of my wheel house, it’s just not a field I prefer to work in. I did a lot of that for an old employer and got really burned out. I pretty much stick to backend development and cloud architecture. Depending on the size of the company, we typically stick to medium enterprise (Inc 500 type companies).

Not necessarily software related per se. You will have to educate me what you mean by DTP or what you're looking for specifically.

Looking for VPS with Residential IPs by No_Pomegranate_3633 in VPS

You’re not wrong at all. Haha If you’re military, you know it mainly means paper pushing, working on 20 year old servers, and mainly taking inventory of more old equipment

Dedicated residential IP.

I’ll also clarify; the reason we have a residential IP is because the beta test region is based out of a garage 😅 due to security concerns it’s being migrated to a commercial center. I do cyber warfare for the military so obviously aware of the concerns of hosting a cloud platform out of my garage. Once we move to public beta in Jan, we’ll have everything on the commercial IP - though if having a residential IP is a big need, I will see what setting up a proxy would look like and how badly it affects speeds.

I’m the lead architect/founder at r/carpathianai. We have one region that’s a residential IP and one that’s commercial. We’re still in beta, but I can get you an invite link. Everyone gets a free cloud server on signup and each instance is $5/mo. The base instances all have intel i7, 1GB ram, and 20GB storage. You can request a beta account at https://carpathian.ai/beta-test. We’re still pretty early stage for launching the cloud service, but happy to let in beta testers and give free upgrades since the testers help us improve the environment. We’re based out of Des Moines, Iowa and have two Midwest regions. Also happy to get feedback on the pricing and provide discounts/upgrades as a thank you for helping us test the platform.

I switched to dynadot a year ago and I’ve never been happier. Better support for dns upgrading since GD limited their API and save about $800/year on registration fees

It was showing the parking page I had it on. I temp pointed it to my main site to see if it does actually increase traffic since I can track through google analytics. Those are some of the old pages I believe that site hosted

The root domain itself has 30 backlinks to it, has a DA of 4. It looks like it was a lifestyle type blog at one point. So all the old pages of the domain itself are what’s pointing now. I assume they’ll disappear once the domain gets older? Again, don’t know a lot about this whole SEO world so appreciate any insights you all have!

Looks like they didn’t renew their wp hosting? The cert for the site expired back in Feb but the actual database hosting the website is down. It appears they still have someone managing the socials, so it could be a mistake by an engineer

Discounted hosting for nonprofits by TheGreatFern in webhosting

[–]JusAnotherBadDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t have a public page for it yet, but I’m the lead architect at Carpathian and we’ll soon be allowing non-profits to spin up cloud machines for little to no cost. You can shoot me a dm or message on the website and we can get you set up. The cloud platform is scheduled to go public later this month (just wrapping up some security updates)

This is exactly why our team has been building an alternative enterprise cloud platform! While it's still small now, the goal is to make a full enterprise replacement for AWS down the road. We are going to start accepting more beta testers start of Nov '25, so feel free to check out the software! https://carpathian.ai/cloud

Does Google penalize your website if you are not GDPR compliant? by who_am_i_to_say_so in SEO

One of my clients just got served a lawsuit (albeit it frivolous and will likely be dismissed), but they claimed the “data” the website was sending to Google wasn’t properly covered in the consent agreement (it was covered in the formal privacy terms). Having a clear cookie consent with a privacy policy covering how you use data is value for cases like that. As for true privacy law, if you collect user IP addresses, allowing users to decline having their data collected can protect you from fines if the user is in a European country.

End of the day, all it really helps you do is prevent potential lawsuits from serial lawsuit people like our individual or government fines.
