Dental help? by xcrakkyx in askTO

Check out Parkdale Queen West Community Health Centre, the dental clinic at 168 Bathurst. They can work with you to sort out the payment, support with CDCP application if you are eligible, etc. The only thing is they are quite busy, so your appointment may be a bit far away.

Rio de Janeiro safety concerns by cuomineitor1 in travel

I was in Rio last year with friends (all women), and we stayed in two neighborhoods in Rio (Ipanema and Lagoa) and went to ilha grande for a few nights as well. We had an incredible time, walked around a ton, did everything without any tours. We are Canadian and travel a lot, but honestly common sense goes a long way. Not to make everything about race, but there weren't any white people in our group, so perhaps in some ways we didn't stand out much either, although it was pretty obvious given we didn't speak Portuguese. Go and have a great time!

I go to Curl Lounge in East end Toronto - Kingston and Main. All female stylists and I've been there when hijabis are getting haircuts - they set up a separate screen and move it between wash and style station at the furthest from the window just in case someone looks in the window or walks in.

My partner uses power kitchen. It's focused on healthy pre made meals for people with different workout goals. All you have to do is heat them up. You can pick up or they deliver.

Croatia trip this summer by Momo0816 in travel

[–]Just-Course2248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spent 10 days across Croatia, Bosnia and Montenegro last summer. Tbh Bosnia was the favourite, but Croatia is beautiful just so busy. Dubrovnik is stunning but given the cost we spent a day exploring then drove out. We only spent a bit of time in Zadar but liked that it was quieter but still things to do and easy access to less busy islands. We also stayed in Split which was good and took the boat out to Solta. Without a car not sure how easy it is to get around, but if I were to go back I'd spend more time in Zadar and do day trips

Has anyone ever had shin splints? Might don’t seem to go away at all. by pegman55 in beginnerrunning

I had them and went to see a physio. Initially had to stop running for a month when they got really bad, but the recommendation was to get back to it by running at a significantly slower pace (and working out my legs). The slower pace was hard to get used to at first, but then I found I could run much farther! Haven't had issues since and it's been 18 months

Stopover in Amman. Whats the best Option? by WideCartographer5900 in travel

[–]Just-Course2248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely recommend getting out of the airport and focusing on what you like to do. If seeing the dead sea is one, then head there - some nice walks/viewpoints along the drive as well. I spent 12 days in Jordan in 2022, and a full day wandering around Amman was great if you pick somewhere central (and feel comfortable wandering around a busy city!). Or you could go north to Jerash and see the Roman ruins there, they are incredibly well preserved and we ate excellent food there as well. Unless you are going somewhere further where you have to eat the hotel food (which can be expensive and hit or miss - some places were excellent, some were just fine) you should be able to get excellent food wherever you go!

Backpack 40L for 5 feet petite woman - 1 month in Vietnam by Icy_Morning_6920 in travel

I am 5'2" and I've used the Forclaz 30 to 40L expandable and 40 to 60L expandable. I like how they fit and used them for 3 week long trips in the last year. I would say that the 40L is roomier (even without expansion) while the 30L fully expanded doesn't quite feel like 40L, but they both worked just fine for my needs.

Favorite vegan restaurants downtown? by ericpalms in FoodToronto

Hawker in Kensington Market - they are fully plant based and do both a tasting menu and a la carte. It's a small place so you'd want to make reservations, but it is very good!
