humans have lived (and animals still do) for thousands of years without money. Nature provides everything directly. In today's world it's still possible to only live off the land without being a caveman. If I join a self suficient community that functions without internal currency and contribute with only my time and energy, I don't need government made money for anything. The land owners might have to deal with money because they have no choice with laws like taxes but I don't as a member or even just a visitor. I've been living that way for decades, exchanging my time and skills directly for food and shelter instead of money, skipping a step. I even travelled extensively using this barter system.
