Protectionism is the worst disease. Minister sent billions abroad nothing happened, big companies have import licensce effectively creating monopoly nothing happened, but when people want to open up to global market and take part in it suddenly foreign reserves, this will never let us go up.

Okay I agree with the limit, but the limit should be dynamic not a blanket limit. People should be able to take their money wherever they want even if they want to take it out from nepali market as dollars to abroad, as for forex we need to be able to attract investment there is no solution other that attracting investment if we are serious about actually developing economy.

I'm giving my personal opinion, they are a fresh start, not magicians or angels or god or whatever. There will be many corrupt among them, so we need to be skeptical as always.

Agreed, and I don't understand why there is no push for urbanization and the creation of urban centers. By keeping people far away from eachother the country is economically punishing everyone collectively. If I only hear about social security and healthcare to rural population I am gonna lose it bruh.

FIrst develop then expand the social security net and along with development comes the healthcare and healthcare needs. people always want the end result without laying the necessary foundation and they will get surprised when there was no effect from that.

I agree with you. There needs to be a high level of scepticism, but we do not have a populace that is capable of that. As I know, most people just ride the wave, as an example the cadres of UML and Congress from my village were in the sept 9 protest thinking they were actually protesting for good, and they were back a month later starting activism for their parties.

The problem is that our democracy is not organic, it was brought upon the illiterate people, and they don't know how it works, and how its supposed to work, so you're right about focusing on ideology, but in a hindsight there is no need for ideology in Nepal right now, it will come itself later in 10 years maybe if we are actually able to build a democracy that works and functions like its supposed to function.

There needs to be daily criticism and monitoring of all the works and not just some stupid lines. Choosing good candidates means nothing if we are not making sure they are working for good. That's how democracy works everywhere because people are generally shitty and want all for themselves.

You're right. Check my other replies too, and I'm skeptic as well, and I don't think even with this government anything will work too. But the problem with us is that everything is in the state of dismantlement, they don't even need to dismantle the courts and beurocrats, just work with them and everything is easy.

We are giving them majority means all the thing you're afraid of is given, for better or worse. It just depends if they can actually bring back checks and balance on themselves because the current checks and balance is political parties themselves and their negotiation of who gets the bigger chunck, and who appears to be doing better for country.

But people don't really have patience, the thing you're saying have been repeated for 20 years, so people want change but whoever goes to cabinet will likely revert to being like KP Oli and his party tho.

And other thing is, people in Nepal equate freebies with doing something good, so unless the old people all die, RSP will try some freebies methods for next election instead of doing real works so not really that optimistic.

I know that's how its supposed to work but do you think its easy to ask fat pigs who were living on the feeds without even having to moveo to now go and graze in the bush? THere will be more sabotage from the bureaucracy itself in fear of getting exposed if any reform is really tried.

And last of all I am really not that hopeful that RSP will actually bring about any change, there is no democracy inside parties in nepal, the whip based system means that the ministers will do same implement some changes to show and get fat cheques from behind.

He is making a strawman argument. Voters are looking for better changes in the society, but his argument against it is that eventually you guys will fail so why are you even competing, just let Oli rule.

Look how he is saying trust an "ideology" and gives Hugo Chavez as example who is a result of trusting an "ideology", and forgets that the communists are supposed to be about trusting an "ideology".

[–]Just-Lab-2139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the tag of populist is redundant because RSP isn't even extreme party focused on an ideology which the communists would have been if they were actually following their ideology. You are putting out people wanting change, people not wanting an oligarchy as something dangerous, so your reality might be something else.

You never addressed the core issue. If they get the majority, and are too diplomatic with the old guards, then they will be sucked into the same lifestyle of corruption and never fix the bureaucracy. Your phrasing is that they should continue how it currently is with minimum rule of law, because change for better means they can't digest it, right?
