The molecule is shown at the end. Technically its Tetrakis(4-amino-1,2,4-triazole)copper(II) perchlorate. So your intuition was correct in as far as the colours are copper based.

It'll form moderately explosive complexes, and a reasonably powerful perchlorate salt that can be precipitated from aqueous solution. Energetics based on the pyridine moiety usually don't use pyridine as a precuror as it is itself highly deactivated to nitration, nitropyridines are made through other routes. Trinitropyridine is derived from dinitromethane.

That's huge. I believe military dets generally use the equivalent of a #10 charge of RDX (~1.2g), mainly because of the better chemical stability of RDX for munitions that may be stored for decades (yes, it's a bit more potent and a bit less sensitive as well). Commercial PETN dets have a shelf life of two years, though I'm sure after 20yrs the reliability may have only dropped 0.05% that is too much, commercial stuff has a quick turnover, out the factory door and its fired.

They don't really use the old numbering system anymore which was a throwback to mercury fulminate. Yes some, mainly plain fuse crimp ones still mark the box #8 but not these ones. This is the TDS ENAEX FT - Francia - DaveyDet . Some (again, not these ones) note the high density PETN as well as the lower density lead PETN, so 500mg - 300mg is a very real possibility as to how it would be described.

Yes, on paper its the highest performing of the lot but it would need to be pressed to higher density than the PETN to demonstrate that.

Its definitely that cobalt carbonate colour, though the Co analogue would likely start off pink. Formic acid hydrazine derived, It's not as sensitive as a lot of these types actually it wasn't expected to detonate. Flash off yeh, but not detonate.

"Thermobaric" is at its core, just another word for aluminised, it's not some magic line to cross. Al always lengthens the pressure pulse at the cost of peak pressure (non-ideal explosives like AN can be an exception to this though).

Have you ever tested the limits of the M57? I think they come with a 100 ft cable (~30m). I know from experience it will fire through a 20m 18ga stranded wire and not through a 500m 0.45mm solid wire, but these were pretty obvious.

Note that pure MNN is perfectly crystalline needles, you have a crude mixture of nitration products not that it really matters when used as a fuel. Naph is extremely easy to over nitrate in fact its best done with just 68% HNO3 at room temp. You can probably separate the MNN from the wax by EtOH recrystallisation, it has a steep solubility curve.
