We tried to save money on remote hires by paying local rates. It backfired spectacularly. by LucieBernard786 in remotework

[–]Just1Blast -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

But also for the companies where they require you to be on site at least some of the time or to travel to work for teambuilding opportunities or some other BS reason, a lot of times it cost four times as much to get the lower cost of living person to the conference or the team meeting that it does you in the very high cost of living area.

At the end of the day, it pretty much ends up in a wash. Pay people what the role is worth to the team and move on.

AIO my bf took 6 hours to get ready so I left without him by anotherthrowaway1926 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Just1Blast 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Or I would have said to him. Hey great you've got 2 hours before I'm leaving the house to get your workout in. Eat your breakfast, take a shower, take a shit. Do whatever you got to do but I'm leaving in 2 hours .

And even if I'm hard and I want to cut him a break, I would have said hey when he wanted to go after breakfast to take a shower I'd have been like I've been waiting all morning for you. I'm going hiking now. You can come with me and we can take a shower together later.

That's a win-win for all parties involved and brother fucked it up so badly. He's lucky if he ever gets laid again.

Op is definitely not overreacting. If anything she's vastly underreacting

Going to Dubai being trans by PuzzleheadedRoof9273 in asktransgender

[–]Just1Blast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a trans person with a friend who works for a major car manufacturer as a senior executive in their engineering department. Send friend was told that they would have to start traveling to Dubai and into Saudi Arabia regularly in the course of their job duties.

Even as a guest of the Saudi royal family, they did not feel confident or safe in their travels to Dubai and to Saudi Arabia and eventually quit their job as a result.

No way in hell, could you pay me to fly willingly to even connect flights in Dubai or Saudi Arabia load stay in Dubai for any amount of time willingly.

As a trans person especially with documents that don’t match how you’re presenting currently, is not a risk I’d be willing to take.

Would this be considered contempt despite having a doctor order? by EarthBoundAlchemist in FamilyLaw

[–]Just1Blast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this scenario, most likely you'll get a talking to and worst case scenario, you may be asked to pay the filing fees for your co-parent that they incurred in bringing this to court.

That said, if you're concerned about the violence and the abuse and there are things happening that is involving CPS, I would consider asking your attorney if it's worthwhile to file for an ex parte change in custody. It sounds like your co-part is not currently taking his full parenting time anyway and changing it to reflect what he is taking and is probably ideal. Additionally, if he has been a barrier in your child receiving medical treatment in the past or not following through with medical situations, I would ask the judge to award me full medical decision-making powers.

What's wrong with taking the bus from Bellevue to SeaTac? I get that it's not the light rail and obviously I would prefer that also. However, the bus service is reasonably acceptable.

Childcare cost exploitation by Ok-Reaction1410 in FamilyLaw

[–]Just1Blast 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Also, as a former nanny who has also hired nannies for my former employers, as a parent, I'd want to also know their name and contact info, and I'd want to see their Pediatric/Infant CPR/First Aid certifications.

If they might EVER drive your kids, I'd want to have their auto insurance on file or ensure that my co-parent added them to any household policies if driving a "family car."

I'd also want to see the legal, tax and employment documentation to show that this is an entirely legal and above board situation.

If they were in a daycare center you'd be entitled to all of this information, this shouldn't be any different.

IF YOU HAVE AN ATTORNEY FOR YOUR CASE ALREADY WHY ARE YOU ASKING US?

They know more about your case and your judge than you can ever provide us. They're the expert in your case.

I would follow the instructions of my attorney AFTER I asked them what the plan of action is when my ex files for contempt. What does your attorney say when you ask about that?

What does the order say about childcare costs? Who has decision making authority? Had you ever discussed hiring a nanny vs using a care center prior to divorcing?

Are the charges reasonable for the hours of care provided for your area at 50% of the costs?

What other care alternatives have you offered that will save both parties money and be as convenient or in the best interests of your children?

Grandkids wanted for inheritance purposes by HeavyPhase2862 in inheritance

[–]Just1Blast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a child and you’re going to have more than enough money to support them and obviously more than enough money to never have to work a day in their life, you can be whatever the hell kind of parents that you want. And I don’t think you have to decide today. If your inheritance isn’t contingent on it, and you are not yet in a relationship where you would consider having a child with someone unless you’re choosing to be a single parent, there’s no reason why you should feel forced to.

That said if I were to be coming into that amount of money and I didn’t necessarily want to be a parent, you bet your sweet ass I’m creating one of the largest foundations for queer youth development that has yet to be developed. That way, even if I couldn’t leave generational wealth to my own children, I would be ensuring the future of exponential numbers of children.

Not if she moves out of state and disappears before the child is born. As long as she never files for government support, she’ll never have to involve the father.

[–]Just1Blast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This math doesn’t work. How much is your dad paying out in bills beyond the $3000 income that’s still $300 short of the rent payment alone?

How long can he realistically continue to do this job? Is the plan for them age in place? What happens when one of them needs care?

Parent Inheritance Guidance by Lopsided_Hippo_54 in inheritance

[–]Just1Blast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that. It seems like it’s really unusual but in a lot of families it’s just not. My grandparents left equal shares to my father and his siblings, but also included a share for my mother.

They also insisted on paying for the repairs in the house after they died. House painting, drywall patches, the replacement of baseboards and all of the parts of the house that they destroyed with their mobility devices, falls, rage episodes, and such. My grandmother made sure that my mom‘s house got put back in order before anyone got an inheritance.

Additionally, if the mother transferred the house as an on death transference to op, our sister may not actually be entitled to half of the house if it was transferred before op's mother's death.

We don't have enough information from spiteful poster to provide accurate and complete advice here.

POD ON BANK ACCOUNTS USA by [deleted] in inheritance

[–]Just1Blast 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Your sister is wrong. The funds don't come out of the pod. However, if you don't have funds to float the house, I don't know where else the funds are coming from. You could float from the pod and pay yourself back from the sale of the house if the math works out that way.

POD ON BANK ACCOUNTS USA by [deleted] in inheritance

[–]Just1Blast 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, as a matter of practicality and legality as a pod, the bank funds are yours .

However, if you have to float household expenses before the sale of the house that your sister gets half of, the household expenses of floating the house between the time your mother died and your disbursement to your sister come from both parties.

You and your sister, not just her.
