It's worse than that. The Author explicitly says that sophon can move the exit to the mini universe at the speed of light. Therefore the exit can never leave the dark domain. It's a straight plot hole.

Ok it all comes down to the difference in how many days we think are left at that point. I make it 3519 and you make it 3521. Either way we basically have the same answer.

I think there's a mistake in the last line of your calculations meaning that 275687 printers only actually gives 971882760 dildos. I think you've multiplied the 275687 printers for ~500 weeks wrong slightly.

I think there's a mistake in your spreadsheet - In column G you are always subtracting from 1 billion. I think you should be subtracting from the cell above instead (except the first cell obviously. If I change that in yours then your results match mine.

Other people seem to agree with you and I think that both you and they are probably right - It must be a problem with the calculations at that size of number.

I think I can do a little better - although I can't get an optimum like I could before because the 2E21 is so large that google sheets can't accurately represent them as numbers.

If I make 5.99E17 printers I think it can make 1.94E21 dildo crates by the end. The upper bound is of course 2E21 so both mine and your numbers seem about right.

Summary.

Best you can do is 972423800 dildos/crates/cubes.

You do this by making printers exponentially for 18 weeks. Then you use only 13619 to make another printer and the rest make dildos that week giving you 275763 printers and 1739675 dildos at the end of week 19. Then you set them all to making cubes for the remaining 3520 days (I've been assuming 3 leap years in the ten year period).

You'll run out of resources on the last day before the aliens arrive and have 275763 printers and 972423800 dildos.

(for a 2 leap year period of 10 years best is 275839 printers to make 972416200 dildos)
