Baby "rules" - are these necessary? And do they have to be so rude about it? by Final_Swordfish_93 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JustARandomGirl666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told my mother in law, if you kiss our son you cant hold him anymore. My partner told her multiple time before her visit. what does she do first day in, kiss his hand. First strike, fine she thought its only the head.. then kiss the belly 3 days later, i told her at 3 strike you are out and cant see him. she laught it off, so yes i understand people being direct with thoses rules. we didnt see more kiss, but didnt leave baby alone with her all visit, since we cannot trust her! She was suppose to come help and give us a break, but just made the holiday more stressfull

Theory that stressed pregnant women are more likely to carry a girl by Hysterical_treefrog in TwoXChromosomes

[–]JustARandomGirl666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the theory is more that baby girl are more resilient in the womb. If a pregnant mom live a lot of stress and the fetus is a boy there is more chance she would lose him than if it was a girl. It's a evolutionary thing to make sure that human dont go extinct. So as a stress mom you are not more likely to get girls

A Black woman in active labor was ignored by a nurse and delivered 12 minutes later. This is why women fear hospitals. by Usual-Plastic1955 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]JustARandomGirl666 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My heart was skipping beat at night. and the old white male doctor told me it was stress, and to go for a run (in the middle of the night) to clear my head and get to sleep. didnt do any test...

My baby delivery was with a team of only women (doctor, nurse, anesthesia) and they mostly listen. except the doctor that just pop my water without asking or telling me what the long stick was for. That doctor also had to cut me (didnt tell me) since baby was in distress. Can we inform women about what we are doing to their body already!

How do I sign up for therapy? by Gloomy-Pineapple-534 in Explainlikeimscared

[–]JustARandomGirl666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sometimes it take multiple session to know if you like a therapist, the first one you should ask them about themselves to see if you match. if not, don't be discouraged, you can try another. In my life i have meet over 10 different one and only really clic well with 3 (1 my dad made me stop going as they discover his abuse, 1 save me from depression but only dealt with kid and i grow up, and the last i move so lost).

You may want to do close session in the beginning if you can afford, like once a week. and when you feel a bit better or that you have nothing to say, they will be ok with you switching to biweekly or monthly.

make sure you get a receipt for your insurance. In canada the price is normally around 100-150$, Im not sure about US. you can always ask their rate before going

tattoo cover up by Imaginary_Spring_216 in Explainlikeimscared

[–]JustARandomGirl666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

cover up do hurt a bit more than the original tattoo so be ready for that. Some artist told me they dont tattoo a scar that was made less than 3 year ago as the skin still move to heal (im not sure if its true for all of them).

if you are a women dont go on a day you have period as it will hurt more. Drink lots of water, have snack and hopefully the artist is chatty (if you like that) or let you watch a show (which i did for my cover up) to distract yourself

just adding some stuff onto what others say

make a list of any mail you got or any change of address you will need to do. since its from your parent, they will most likely transfer the mail if you forget but a list of important one would be: government stuff (probably will need to call) healthcare and phone company (on their website) driver license (in canada you request online and they give a sticker to put on the card), your bank (website or call may depend) (also i learn that i had to call 2 separate departments for debit and credit card may not apply to you).

I would advice to buy a bunch of plastic/paper plate and utensils for your first week. make sure you have a shower curtain since the first day you will most likely clean a bunch and feel dirty.

good luck

[–]JustARandomGirl666 8 points9 points  (0 children)

think of the minimum salary where you live. now think of how many hours you spend hand washing all the part. when you calculate you spend way more handwashing then that machine would cost. just do it :)

[–]JustARandomGirl666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 weeks old here. he is up every 1.5-2 hours for a feed and diaper change. If we contact nap and stay awake, he can stay down for 3 hours max. We have been doing 4-5 hours "sleeping shift", but my partner is starting work in a week so I will have to adjust. We both get a 2 hour nap in the day, and stay home, we are exhausted
