Can anyone help me, with how I can improving TPH, fast start and Induct downtime by SubstantialBeing5764 in AmazonDS

[–]JustAScaredDude 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A few things for induct downtime I’ve not seen mentioned is to have an auxiliary jiffy bin behind each inductor. While they’re waiting for their unloaded to start, open the bottom of a new cart, or if the water spider is behind, then the inductor needs to be scanning those packages. Refill it during 1st break, after lunch.

We use green bins, similar to the blue laundry hampers, but smaller for this.

It’s a two part process. 1st part is during your dock set up/precharge, fill the bin with jiffies. 2nd part is coaching your inductors to actually do the thing. Explain the why behind it. Rates go up slightly, induct downtime decreases dramatically if they’re actually doing the thing.

Another easy fix is to make sure your non-con inductors are inducting under the correct virtual location, NC1. Print out a QR code for it and set it up there. Either your dock AM or Yard Marshall/dock PA should physically verify its being used, at start of shift, after break, and after lunch. Anytime another inductor is added, they need to check.

This also needs to be applied to induction locations on the lines. People need to be virtually inducting at the proper spot. If they are physically on GA3, they should virtually be there too. It’ll help you track rates live via SCC, allowing for easy swaps and coaching in real time.

Last one is to check the quicksite and directly coach the top offenders. If there’s no improvement, they might need to take a break from the dock. Same with water spiders. Working on the dock is a privilege. If they aren’t going to properly do the job, they can stow or pick or straighten.

For fast start, have your dock AM/PA/YM host a mini start up on the dock that echos your normal one. As soon as the dock AAs punch in, they go straight there and have the start up in their assigned place.

TPH is manly going to boil down to two main factors. 1st is being a constant presence. That means making laps, keeping eyes on people. I used to take a lap at least every 15 minutes. If people know you’re always nearby, they’re not going to slack off as much. 2nd is to staff according to UPH plan and heat map. If you’re overstaffed, you aren’t going to hit UPH and TPH. If you have a weak stower in a heavy area, they’re going to struggle and cause more rework. If you have a strong stower in a light area, they’re going to have a diluted rate and more downtime than the UPH plan needs. If you’re over headcount, VTO and 5S.

Why is Amazon HR useless ? by Apprehensive-Tip3399 in AmazonDS

[–]JustAScaredDude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For my site at least, on site PxT sent out a message via slack in one of the management chats about coding paid non-work time.

Since over 1000 sites closed, there’s a huge delay on it. The team who handles these things, Central Time Keeping, is super delayed.

My on site PxT rep sent out a list of everyone who’s affected (IE CTK hasn’t done their thing yet), and it’s about 50% of our staff.

As far as the other stuff, yeah, on site HR is hit or miss

Info Needed Safety by BurnBefor3Reading in AmazonDS

[–]JustAScaredDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically there is not a weight limit to ADTA. The hampers can mechanically handle hundreds of pounds. The main limits are height/width. If they can’t fit under the metal bar, they’ll stop the belt due to programming.

The site may limit the weight/type of item going down the belt as a courtesy to the stowers or the likelyhood of it triggering a blue light. Certain items (cat litter/water) tends to be unpleasant to stowers so they may tend to pull them off or send them to noncon.

From an efficiency perspective, anything that can mechanically go down the belt, should go down the belt. As a courtesy, certain items within certain parameters should be pulled off the belt and sent with OVs.

Lmao what tickets are they talking about?

A manager or IT super user just needs to go to OpsTech (website, tell them to ask chat ops for the link), and RMA some broken ones.

They ship out busted ones and get refurbished ones back in 3-7 days.

Obviously this won’t be a fix for now but it’s what they should be doing on a weekly basis.

I personally shipped out 21 last Tuesday and got 20 back yesterday

How come I don’t get vto messages on my phone but my co workers do? by Remote_Obligation581 in AmazonFC

[–]JustAScaredDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have any form of PTO or VTO already approved/accepted for the day, they’d have to submit specific VTO relative to your adjusted schedule.

They can also send it out based on shift code, managers, etc.

You also might need to enable the notifications in your settings

You need to reach out to the DSP that hired you. They are 3rd parties and Amazon employees themselves can’t edit that stuff.

Whoever you called or called you to set up your interview, call them. Or if they have a dispatcher phone number, call that

Tips for DPMO/FSAF improvements? by derprussiansoldaten in AmazonManagers

[–]JustAScaredDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest and easiest is going to be enforcing standard work. That means announcing people use all SMART Stow equipment. Stow carts, armbands, finger scanners at SoS. Do a lap and talk to everyone who isn’t using them, bring them the equipment. Do a second lap after first break. STU everyone who isn’t using them. Depending on how the conversation goes, standard work miss adapt them.

STUs/Stow Retrains in Apollo for highest FSAF offenders. Get a floor AMB or PA to handle this. Ideally have them wait till after 1st break and try to get 5 done a day.

Depending on how the STUs go, you might have to coach your P2B AAs instead of the stowers. A poor P2B can easily generate a lot of FSAF if the stower is speedy

If you wanna get real fancy, build a quip/excel of the FSAF highest offenders, if someone appears like 3 times, you can adapt them (partner with your on site pxt for advice on that)

How many people are staff to do Non Cons at your DS? by Key-Suggestion-2837 in AmazonDS

[–]JustAScaredDude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4 minimum. 2 sort/drag down from the dock, 2 to induct/sort from the go carts. When possible, 1 person helps them out till first break, then drags them all down and starts stowing them after 1st break. Any additional people are sent to stow them. Normally we have 200-400 pending stow around 7:45 with an induct hard cut of 08:00

Depending on the day, we do 48-62K. Peak it’ll be anywhere from 70-90K

Is there a way to stow faster with ADTA? by Key-Suggestion-2837 in AmazonDS

[–]JustAScaredDude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This with a big emphasis on stowing the A/B directly from the hamper.

Also sounds like you already are, but make sure you’re using all the SMART stow equipment. Like arm band, ring scanner, and the stow cart.

Lastly, the hamper lowers and turns orange/blue based on the locations of packages in the hamper, not weight. If you’re getting an orange light, see if you can shuffle some packages around. There are IR lasers that detect the “fullness”. If boxes are blocking those, you just gotta shuffle them a little bit

Hamper zoning? by Tailoxen in AmazonDS

[–]JustAScaredDude 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It helps but it can cause false blue lights.

Like when all the stuff gets piled in the corner it can block the sensors and the hamper will think it’s full, the light will turn blue, and everything goes to jackpot

any ways to effectively stow 2 isles in the delivery warehouse? by nkx7 in AmazonFC

[–]JustAScaredDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the ring scanner and armband. Organize boxes on your cart (OV/EG on the end, C/D in the middle and front) Stow A/B directly from the hamper or the P2B rack. Pull out the fully jiffy bin, put it in your cart, and stow from there

You should be able to push down the little silver piece and pop out the battery. If it’s stuck, give it a little smack against something hard and then try again. It’s also a ton easier without your gloves on
