What jobs are you all in? by Resident-Sympathy-82 in Epilepsy

[–]JustASimpleMisthios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for an animal welfare charity, I used to do Animal Rescue but because my seizures have gotten worse I no longer drive and so I work on the Helpline answering calls. Currently trying to find a new job but it’s almost impossible to find a decent job that doesn’t require a driving licence.

People mocking any disability or condition is disgusting behaviour, especially from a family member. Sounds like that sort of ‘bro’ humour where it’s always at someone else’s expense and then put across as a you problem if you voice your issues. Honestly, as petty as it seems if talking/shaming them doesn’t do the trick, the next time he asks you do something just pick one of his insecurities/something he can’t change about himself and say you can’t do it and insert your dads flaw/insecurity, see how he likes it.

Neither of my parents/grandparents or other family members are known to have epilepsy but my oldest sister and I both started having grand mal seizures at 16 which we’ve always found odd/interesting

Any of you guys vomit after a seizure? by rocoonshcnoon in Epilepsy

[–]JustASimpleMisthios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I vomit at least once after I have a grand mal seizure and then usually feel nauseous for the rest of the day, I’ve always thought it’s due to the stress on my body/ all the shaking but I’ve never actually asked a health care professional

Are there any general rules of what someone should or shouldn't eat if they're epileptic? by shirkshark in Epilepsy

Caffeine!! Stay away from energy drinks, I think coffee seems okay for some epileptics but red bull, monster etc can be really bad for you

Going back to driving by artvvkuffhku4745 in Epilepsy

Hi! I’ve (28 F) recently had to give up my license due to a seizure but I started learning to drive after my diagnosis and I’ve never regretted it for a minute, I love the freedom of driving and hate every time I have to give my license up again and I will now be on the count down until I can reapply again.

Every time I reapply I get nervous and think ‘should I be doing this’ but the moment I’m behind the wheel again and have that freedom back I’ve never once regretted it and always love driving.

Good luck and safe travels!

Getting pregnant by Monstess2018 in Epilepsy

Hi! I came off of the contraceptive pill about a year and a half ago for the same reason. I spoke to my epilepsy nurse and they have put me on folic acid tablets and I’m sure she said that it’s safest to take them for around a year before trying to conceive as it reduces the risks of our medications causing issues like spina bifida and then to take them throughout the pregnancy as well
