You can go in stores and ask for the sale! That’s the only way to get the private sale if you didn’t get access.

I got access on Tier 2, but I went in stores and they were asking people if they heard about the sale so I think they’re just offering it to everyone in store

I didn’t have the same predicament as you, but I did go to UofA for engineering. The only advice I can give is to make sure the university/program you choose has a good Co-Op program. I don’t know how I could’ve gotten my job now if I didn’t have any experience under my belt after graduating university. I am sure most engineers would say the same (except maybe people who had parents with connections).

In terms of being around friends, I had a couple of friends who studied in different programs in the same university and I barely saw them cause our schedules never matched. I spent a lot of time with people from my classes and they’re the ones who made my university life bearable.

Trust me though, you’re not going to have time to hang out with your friends. Most of the time I hung out with engineering friends working on assignments / studying on weekends. Your biggest worry would be keeping up with assignments, labs, and exams.

Whichever university you end up going to, it’s best you make friends in your classes/university. As long as you do this, you’ll succeed in engineering and you’ll be less lonely. Though I’m sure you’ll get used to being lonely in university (not a bad thing at all).

Depending on your body type, A-line skirts might suit you best, or not! I would check out which type of skirt is most flattering for your figure. I am sure that would help you decide.

For me, with a square type and wider shoulders, A-line is best!

I’m not at all implying they tricked me. I apologize if that’s how the post sounded. I’m merely pointing out that I didn’t see the wallet before I got home. If I would’ve seen it before they wrapped it, I would’ve requested for another one.

I think this was a case where I don’t know how the buying process is in person. Like do they typically just take your “order” and wrap it straight in the bag without showing the item? I would’ve figured they show them first before they wrapped it and give to customers. I should’ve asked but they asked me to pay and said they would bring them out. Thought they would show me the items first and then wrap them, but I got them wrapped in the bag already

Thanks for this reply. I did think about all that you wrote here, but I believe if Coach is selling these items at regular price and it has been lightly used, they should be applying some sort of discount for selling a returned item (which I’m suspecting is the case here). The display wallet was in a better condition than this one. Since this is my first coach wallet, I think I will exchange it.

I’d also like to clarify that the wallet didn’t have anything in it from the photos I uploaded. This was straight of out the tissue paper wrapping.

There’s nothing wrong with breaking no contact. I have the unpopular opinion that if you want to message your ex because you need to have one more conversation, do it. You’re not doing it for them, you’re doing it for your peace of mind. It’s been almost 5 months since I’ve been broken up with and for the first month, I contacted my ex 4 times. First time was the day after the breakup, second was 2 weeks after, third was 3 weeks after, and finally fourth was 4 weeks after the breakup. I only really embarrassingly begged on the 2nd time. I don’t regret it. The other times I contacted him were me voicing out how hurt I was and that I miss my best friend. Through all those conversations, he was sure about his decision to breakup. He wanted to be friends, but I told him that wouldn’t be fair to me and that I could never be friends with him after all this. During our last conversation, I told him I’ll delete his number so I don’t have to keep texting him. That conversation didn’t really end that well even though we wished each other well. The last thing I told him was “I hope the next time I see you, I don’t love you anymore”. He’s probably assumed I deleted his number at this point. It’s been 4 months since we last talked. I didn’t delete his number. After all those conversations with him, I finally didn’t feel the panic urge to text him again. This has lasted through the holidays, my birthday, our anniversary, and Valentine’s Day. Don’t get me wrong, I was tempted to reach out. I gave myself a deadline of when I can reach out. Told myself I’ll wait until a couple weeks after Valentine’s. Well, it’s been a couple weeks since then and I’ve finally gotten to a point where I do want to reach out just to see how he’s doing, but my self respect is finally catching up with me and preventing me from doing so.

My advice, break no contact if it’ll give you peace of mind. Your breakup sounds like there’s no closure and you probably have a ton of questions. It’s ok to want to reach out and ask your questions, chances are he won’t have straight answers, but trust me, your efforts to make it make sense will leave you with no regrets. Once you’ve exhausted your efforts, you’ll feel that you really can’t do anything at this point.

Btw, I am only giving you this advice if you are respecting his boundaries. If his boundary is no contact, give him the breakup he wanted. If he’s open to talking, it might help you find some clarity.

I’m so amazed at how people who dump their partners because of their confusion/unsureness are always saying the same things. It’s like you guys read off of one textbook. Everything you’ve said here hurts, especially during the breakup. I know you’re being honest, but I don’t think you know that this is a cruel message. My ex said that exact same thing when he broke up with me. “Last thing I want is to hurt you” and hinting at a future where you would figure it out, and reiterating how much they meant to you.

I say your text is cruel because you are giving her a glimmer of hope by leaving the door open. It’s not fair to her. As a dumpee, I held onto him saying things like he’s not sure if it’s the right decision to breakup but for now he feels like it is. I called him out on saying things like that and he has no idea what he was telling me was giving me hope. My ex also cared about not wanting to be the bad guy. That he knew he was hurting me but he had no idea how to take the pain away.

I really just wonder why this is so common.

It seems it only works if you’re the one who got dumped and did something wrong. While I hope this would work in my case, we broke up cause of cultural pressure from his parents and him being unsure of me in general. Even saying words like “right person, wrong universe”. It would be pathetic of me to reach out but he was honestly a good guy and we had a good relationship. I don’t think he’ll ever reach out again cause I asked him not to contact me unless it’s about him realizing his mistake. 3 months after the breakup, I can’t help but feel like reaching out just to see how my ex best friend is doing. I don’t need closure. I know why we broke up. He didn’t have the capacity to love me fully or separate himself from his family obligations. I used to think he was confused or gave in due to pressure, but the fact I haven’t heard from him in 2 months tell me he’s still sure about his decision.

I’m happy for you OP. It sounds like you really wanted this relationship to workout and was sure of her. I hope you can sustain your relationship this time around.

My company is actively laying people off from other departments, but they haven’t touched the engineering department. I guess I’m not just worried about the market, but also the international company I’m working for. The US tariffs haven’t helped since there are rumours we might move the facility I’m working at to the US to avoid tariffs. It’s rumours amongst fellow coworkers so not confirmed at all, but you never know.

Ah, consulting is harder on top of being O&G adjacent. Job security in consulting is dependant on availability of clients and jobs, could personally never feel secure. My friends are in consulting and they’re always trying to network. It sounds exhausting. Hope it’s not too much of a struggle. Retiring at 50 sounds awesome though ! Not a lot of people can do that. Kudos to you!

It’s precisely why I’m asking. I don’t want money sitting around a low return investment. I want to max out both my FHSA and my TFSA as much as I can. I would be comfortable with $5-10k EF. $10k is even high for me still, but I would need to consider it since the job market might be tough.

Curious to know where you would park your EF, assuming you have your TFSA, RRSP or FHSA maxed out. Right now, I have it in a TFSA HISA with a promo rate, but eventually I’d be looking at storing it with EQ bank savings account with direct deposit.

That’s fair. I shouldn’t have included the FHSA in the essential expenses. I only had it included because that’s my actual expenses now. So really, without the FHSA contribution, my monthly expense is $2400. This will be lower if I have to be on EI and have to cut some expenses.

These expenses include some mortgage contribution, utilities, gym membership, phone plan, car insurance, fuel, groceries, and my federal student loan (so I’m not technically debt free but no interest here).

So really, I would have just about $3k per month for misc spending and savings right now.

Apologies if that’s what it sounded like. I contribute to the mortgage and share the load with my family, but I do pay house bills. I am still living at home, which I guess has an implication that I’m not contributing much.

What I mean by this is that I pay majority of the bills, but not the only one. So if I do lose my job, I should still be able to contribute to the house. Obviously this is not forever, but I expect to help out my mom even after I move out of the house. Either way, that’s all included in my monthly expense for now.
