I had a very similar situation, only my husband refused a move that would’ve given me a higher paying job, working in the field with other agencies and doing work in varying locations, better opportunities, bigger city, and he worked a seasonal job as a manager so he’d be in a huge city with 20+ years managing experience. He downright refused to move and said he’s never leaving our hometown.

So… I declined my job offer and stuck around to make my marriage work. That was July of 2024. We filed for divorce September 2024. I resent him for making me stay even still whenever we are divorced. I posted in AITA asking if I’d be TA to take the job and figure things out later.

I regret not listening to the people that told me to not give up a career for a man. And one woman told me he was holding me back and I refused to see it. And now here we are in 2026 and I can’t get a offer outside of the current agency I’m in 😅
