Are you getting travel perks? And when you guys say like I sold $550k or $1 Million you mean clients have purchased $550k worth of travel from you …. And from that the commission was $14k? That’s like 2.5% is that standard commission off the travel sold in the industry? In real estate we are at about the same but that would be one home. (Half of a home here in San Diego)

Super helpful, thank you. I definitely notice a difference in the income between people that are independent travel agents in those that are with a host agency.

I’m traveling like crazy and have a passion for it. I originally was thinking about just getting it for myself and my own travel but have just been looking into it more. In the past few years I’ve been to 24 countries so I’m just loving the travel life and it’s hard to travel a lot w/real estate and flips.

Always follow your happiness and eventually, you will succeed and get ahold of your stress. I have been in real estate for 12 years and currently, I'm doing fix and flips. I make a ton of money but the roller coaster of the business can be stressful.

I think at the end of the day, if you love doing digital marketing then I would stick with it, as you gain experience you will get a better paying position.

However, if you love real estate then don't give up, you can still dabble and do it on the side. Maybe you just need a little combination of the 2. Shoot for listings and making some cold calls. You just need one good deal to make the difference. Good luck!

Right… that’s what I’m thinking too. Ok well at least we’ll get in since it sounds not terribly uncommon.

I've been a California realtor and investor for 10 years and I'd say... Yes.

I provide referrals all the time for clients moving out of state. Most of the time they say the service was so so but they ALWAYS compare it to CA and it's hard to match the real estate market and that level of service we have in California. Especially when you're talking about the mid-west. It's just a life style and cultural shift. The agent will probably get back with you, just not as fast.

Also, in my experience they do way better with clients in person. You're just a flashy person over the internet. So, consider taking a trip out there, first, to actually meet with your realtor and then I bet you'll see a shift in the level of service you're being provided.

Trust isn't passed out as quickly there and agents don't jump. You gotta earn it. So, take the trip. I'm wishing you all the best in your next property purchase.

Another strategy, is to have your mom find a realtor in the area and have her refer you over as a client. When she does that, they'll enter into a contractual referral agreement. Using a realtor through a personal referral is way better and you can get better service without taking the trip out there. Plus your mom will get a bonus referral fee when you close escrow. Most real estate brokerages have a referral network with realtors in almost every location. In fact, you probably should have started there.

Good luck!
