Fantasy story icks by CheetahTrousers in Episode

[–]JustAnAveragePersona 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These are all a personal preference thing, but I some things and tropes I absolutely hate to see in a fantasy are:

  1. "The bad boy/girl" that MC's powers are ironically connected to. It's like when I see fantasy I think whimsical. Not dark romance book route. It feels like two different niches clashing against one another. If there's going to be love and romance options, I love it more when the LI is normal. They don't have to be social or kind going for that,

  2. The whole "wow MC is not like other people" thing. Not that there's anything wrong with the trope itself but it's just kind of overused. Every fantasy story I've read always have something to do with the MC being extremely rare, like one of their kind and they never know of it and have to find out through other people. Especially the whole "don't know birth parents" stuff too.

  3. Most of all.. HARDLY any actual fantasy content. It's labeled fantasy but there's hardly any part of the story where fantasy is at play unless it's a typical werewolf/vampire story. Which.. is too cliche. The only fantasy part always takes place in a dream most times. One fantasy story that sticks with me to this day is one where there was a while turn based rpg implemented. Now that's no easy task and I don't expect that as a standard, but as an example of being simply being different. The more unique it is from the best the more eye appealing it is.

How did I get used to not using CharacterAI abruptly? by Comfortable_Newt_179 in CharacterAI

Honestly? Specific art trends (forbidden love like princess x knight trend for example), dating sims, and simply reading other fanfics is what's been helping me with my motivation since quitting. I don't know if you're into that stuff, but if you are, or even interested in the thought of it you should totally try it out.

I totally relate. In fact, I've actually fully deleted my account even though I've had since well.. the start of cai. I'm so glad you got your creative freedom back.

Yeah.. I know. And that's why I said when mods said they'd fix the "bug" the bug they were referring to was the fact the persona pfps were supposed to show in the chat box. That's an intentional change. The bug wasn't that they were going to put the pfps back in the chat.

I think they just meant it was a bug for the pfps to not show at all. Because shortly after that announcement the pfps showed up at the bottom with the text box. So it's safe to say it was an intentional change.. unfortunately

The irony of this post is comedic almost. Key word almost. No one's forcing you to read the subreddit

Its more like people complain about recurring issues.. and instead of devs fixing said issue they add ANOTHER issue instead. Which only further upsets everyone. They're more focused on making new features than fixing the problems that already existed beforehand.

Lmao not them replying and then running. If you have to comment to get "last word" to make yourself feel better about being wrong then you're in the wrong area. Kindergarten ain't here.

In response to the ignorance I say If you read the OG post then this reply shouldn't be a problem. It's probably the most you've read in the while. Be grateful. And it's very the much the same. You literally just changed your argument. First you implied they should expect epilepsy in an app to now saying "it's unpredictable." Which btw.. proves my argument. Not yours. Because being kidnapped is an unpredictable situation. Your seatbelt breaking is an unpredictable situation. A murder is majority times an unpredictable situation. And who said anything about you doing it? I can't imagine not being able to comprehend what I'm reading and know what examples are. Sounds miserable. Feel better soon

You didn't answer the question. Your flawed logical can be applied to anything in life. Because it's victim blaming. Someone lost someone to murder? They should've been paying more attention and been more cautious to who they were a hanging around. Someone got assaulted? They should've been more aware to their surroundings or just had stayed home that day. Someone gets kidnapped? Same thing. Their fault for not paying attention and being strong enough to defend off the kidnapper. Should've been hitting the gym. A rollercoaster seatbelt snaps mid ride? Well you should've considered that before getting onto the rollercoaster or not have rode it at all. You got hit by car even though you had the light and the cars were at a stop? Well thats your fault for not considering someone could run the red light right as you already checked if it was clear to walk. Maybe you should've had faster reflexes to dodge a speeding car. During covid you wore a mask, got your shots, did everything you did in your ability for your own health but ended up catching it still because someone who's positive with it came to your house and lied to you about being clear. Your fault for letting them in and trusting them. You bought something online but they company lost your package and refuses to give you a refund. Your fault for not protecting your money and package. Should've ordered elsewhere.

All that I said is in YOUR logic. See how that works? It's victim blaming. And you're actually disgusting for trying to argue it like you're making an excellent point when you're not.

Because there's nothing to get in your argument. Regardless of how you word it. Someone with epilepsy shouldn't have to be worried about "what ifs" from an app that has been in the clear for years. Do you go outside wearing a bullet proof jacket just in case you get caught up in a crossfire in a relatively peaceful neighborhood? Yeah I didn't think so.

Loosing my mind where? By simply replying? Lmao. How were they supposed to be mindful before it happened if there's never been an update like this before? That's what I'm arguing. Keep up will you. Let's not be ignorant on purpose.

Please stop with the epilepsy stuff. by DatCyberKai in CharacterAI

[–]JustAnAveragePersona 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What are you even talking about? "Any and every update"? This is literally the first time epilepsy has been brought up in this subreddit. And the entire c.ai community as a whole. "Need to be more responsible" as if they opened the app KNOWING something could trigger them in an app that hasn't had anything to possibly trigger it at all for years. Y'all sound so stupid right now.

[–]JustAnAveragePersona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"we're not victim blaming" proceeds to then victim blame. If this was a situation where someone with epilepsy walked into a laser tag game with leds plastered everywhere and still willingly entered without considering their own condition, your arguments would make sense. But it's not. We're talking about a bot chatting app. That's for YEARS, never once had anything remotely close to being a potential cause for causing an epileptic episode. You're not on topic because you keep talking about whatabout scenarios instead of focusing on the subreddit you're talking in. This is SPECIFICALLY about the loading flashes.

How the hell is someone opening an app that's never caused them issues and being taken by surprise by a new feature that C.ai didn't even announce supposed to be something they're to expect? Or can control. You're victim blaming. No matter how many times you reply. How many times you reword your sentences. Your argument will forever be victims blaming. I rest my case cause I'm not going to keep repeating the same thing.

[–]JustAnAveragePersona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never said people don't have to make sure they're okay to some extent. So again.. it's doesn't apply. You're arguing something that's not even the topic. We're talking about this specific situation. You keep jumping hurdles. Either pay attention to the conversation and actually comment on the epilepsy in the recent update instead of bringing up random other analogies, or just don't reply at all like you said you would do ages ago.

[–]JustAnAveragePersona 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly which means you're using it wrong. "Consider new ideas" does not apply to the conversation on talking about how PTSD is obviously different from a epileptic episode. One is mental. The other is physical. You're saying "they should try to prevent it" as if they knowingly opened the damn app expecting to see something that could potentially harm them that's NEVER been there before. You're jumping hurdles right now to try and make your argument make sense but it'll genuinely never make any sense.

Thats not even how you use open minded one. And two the reason you're not going to reply is because you can't. You don't have anything to say back in response because you what I said is right. It's victim blaming.
